This is just not true. If ever a government you disagree with tries to pull a similar stunt, the law will not allow it and you will be glad of today's ruling. Our law is based on precedent and one has been set today.

I do not think that he should resign because he would have acted on the advice of his advisors and legal team who would have said the action was lawful... Because thje Supreme Court said it wasn't is just a different interpretation of the laws, upon which they have ruled. If anybody should resign it is the entire government which would mean a GE which is what Boris wanted in the first place. This idea doesn't follow with Corbyn and Co as they know they would get slaughtered and the Tory majority would increase dramatically. So what do we do? Just carry on as was and Tory MPs talk out any ideas and motions put forward.

The Supreme Court is the ultimate when it comes to ruling on the laws of this country. They are highly competent lawyers and judges who have been chosen for their skill and judgement. Despite what the Daily Mail might say, they are unbiased and neutral. They have only reached a judgement which to many, many people seemed blindingly obvious.

In terms of a General Election, if it were to come to that, the Labour Party are as bad as the Tories at the moment - the word Stalinist springs to mind after some of what happened at their conference yesterday. But I think it is a gross over-simplification to say that the Tory majority would increase dramatically. It's far more complicated than that. My MP in Winchester - Steve Brine, a Tory who has been expelled from the party by Johnson - will presumably not stand, but it would be likely to go Lib-Dem, and that is without any notion of tactical voting.

Firstly, I'm not expressing an opinion as to whether he is good or bad.
Secondly, it's up to him what he does..... and
Thirdly, if he were to stand as an independent, he would probably just split the Tory vote and make a Lib-Dem victory more likely.

I am not sure your 3rd point is right as I am sure that if it happened in HH and Sir Nicholas Soames stood as an independent he would walk in.
