Any change to a treaty? And we would have had a referendum? That applied to other countries. They got to vote on treaty changes. Guess what, they voted against the EU. Their parliaments ignored the results and the EU ordered new referenda until they achieved the 'right' result. I believe a pattern is emerging here....

What has happened in other countries is, they had a referendum, the people said no, the EU and the country changed the proposal and the country, not the EU, asked them if they liked the new proposal, and they said yes.
I promise you that the EU has never asked any country to hold a referendum.
If asking again with a slightly different proposition is a problem, what is May going to do if she gets the EU to tweak the backstop?

Give it a couple of weeks and what happened tonight will become very clear. Don't forget, patience is a virtue :)

Why don't you tell us now what you think will happen?

You expect a majority of Parliament to change the law to revoke Brexit?

You and your 'no deal' friends have just stopped Brexit and you still haven't realised

Feel free to enlighten the class as to how no deal Brexit has been stopped - and I don't mean your normal 'it just isn't possible to have a no deal'

Which is why if Article 50 isn't extended, it'll be unilaterally revoked via an act of parliament to allow time to come up with plan D or any plan. Never mind the time needed for another referendum, no deal requires a further 6 primary pieces of primary legislation and 800-1000 statuary ones, on top of everything else needed.

The Electoral Commission has £829k ring-fenced to hold The European Elections in May. The new Commission wont be appointed and in place until the autumn in anycase - I'm sure they'd welcome us back with open arms, even if we say it wont be for long.

You seriously think parliament can muster a majority to revoke A50 ???

First they would never allow us back in temporarily with a view to leaving later. No chance of that, they've made that clear.

Second, there doesn't seem to be much chance that a majority of Parliament, who voted to trigger article 50, and continue to insist that they intend to respect the will result of the referendum, will now vote to revoke it.

Was the Yorkshireman who admitted he voted Leave to 'get our country back' but is now fuming after discovering that leaving affects his plans to retire to Spain, "aware of the facts, for both sides"?

Was the young girl who voted to remain because The EU gave us the NHS aware of the facts?
What about the youngster who voted remain because if we voted Leave Nandos restaurants would have to close down aware of the facts?
What about the current remainers who believe we have full control of our EU borders and we can therefore implement on EU citizens a system of visas and quotas(like we do on non EU citizens) but just don’t bother-are they aware of the facts.
What about the current remainers who believe our Parliament has a final say in all laws and that the exclusive competence of the EU to legislate in some areas without the need for our parliamentary input is some sort of myth- are they aware of the facts?
What about the current remainers who believe the European Court of Justice is nothing to do with the European Union- aware of the facts or away with the fairies?

If the referendum result is overturned then we are **cked for generations.

If we have a No Deal Brexit then we will face some degree of challenge, which we are perfectly capable of rising to, for a year or so, maybe 18 months.

I don't think even you believe that anymore.

Well, well, well. Leavers' options just got drastically reduced. You now only have two ways you can leave and both of those are unlikely to happen.

:ffsparr: :lolol:

So the two ways we could previously Leave- With or Without a deal have now been reduced to two ways we can Leave-With or Without a deal.

Outstanding work from you.

Simple Yes or No. Do you think Britain will leave the EU?

Well?

Apologies for making a new thread but had to, to post a poll. I want to get an idea what people feel will happen next from here.

You seriously think we're leaving on March 29 because it's the 'legal default position' despite an utter plethora of legislation required for it to happen, on top of everything else required?

Extension of A50/Extension of membership/revoking A50 - call it what you want. We wont be leaving on March 29.

Well, you would know what I think better than I would wouldn't you.

You're arrogant beyond belief, but you are consistent, I'll give you that.

You were stating that any differences in treaties and we'd get a vote. It's just that that has never been the case with the UK and treaty change. I have no idea what May will do, the whole mess is as far as I'm concerned down to poor implementation by people who were remainers and never wanted to leave in the first place. Madness.

2.5 years ago there was supposedly a plethora of "options". Which was half the problem. Brexit has never been a binary issue, something you have all failed to grasp.
But don't worry yourself about it Pasta, you've been ****ed for years. Or maybe you haven't, hence the porn addiction :O:wanker:

That 'utter plethora of legislation' isn't required before we fallout by default ..... it's desirable. Not having it doesn't prevent us leaving.

So where is this majority coming from for 'Extension of A50/Extension of membership/revoking A50' ?

'Think' is a pretty exaggerated word to describe what it is you do.
