Just a reminder while everyone is struggling with the cost of living, inflation and interest rates, it didn't have to be like this. Even the leaders of the Brexit campaign now acknowledge it's a total shitshow

We need more EU workers, admits leading Tory Brexiter

A leading Tory Brexiter on Sunday calls on ministers to reopen the UK’s borders to tens of thousands of young workers from EU nations in order to tackle acute post-Brexit labour shortages that he says are driving up inflation. In an extraordinary admission of the failures of immigration policy since the UK left the EU, former Tory environment secretary George Eustice said Rishi Sunak’s government should begin bilateral negotiations with EU nations immediately,

How much longer should we keep driving the British economy into the ground before a grown up does the sensible thing

There are no grown ups left on the front bench of the Government, last 3 PM's all children, the current one is even child size.

Express headlines in 2016:

'Cheaper food after EU exit'.
'Experts now say that prices will come down'.

Price of Daily Express in 2016: 10p.
Price of Daily Express in 2023: £1.20.

Stewart Lee tells us that Brexiters don't understand data, so the following stat is not for them.

The newspaper that told you prices will come down, and which now describes price rises as staggering, now costs you 1,100 % more.

Pretty sure this is untrue, though they did sometimes have 10p on the front page with 'less than The Daily Mail' bracketed in small font underneath.

Once saw someone argue the toss about this in Tesco, hasn’t cost 10p in about 50 years probably

Strange I thought he, and all the other Brexiters, knew exactly what they were voting for?

Fair enough.

I got the '10p' from the picture of the Daily Express front page in comment #126,411. It didn't occur to me that a newspaper could be so underhand to splash a large '10p' on its front page and then charge some other price entirely.

Meanwhile, yet another British industry suffers death by a thousand Brexit cuts.

'Get Brexit Done' ? :dunce: This is simply going to get progressively worse with each year that goes on and more and more of Johnson's 'brilliant deal' has to actually be implemented.

Brexit tariffs threaten Vauxhall’s mega factory in Luton

New Brexit tariffs on electric car parts threaten the future of Vauxhall’s huge factory in Luton, the plant’s director has warned. Under new “rules of origin” laws that come into force from January, 45pc of the value of an electric car must originate from either the UK or the EU. This is due to rise to 65pc in 2027.

The Luton factory, which opened in 1905, employs around 1,500 people and specialises in producing vans, around 70pc of which are exported to mainland Europe.

Mercedes and Volkswagen are among the other car brands urging the UK and Brussels to avoid a post-Brexit "cliff edge" when the new laws come into effect next year.

And all completely predictable as evidenced throughout this whole thread
