Are we supposed to believe this? Why don't the UK government ramp up the pound with a few well chosen words then?

Here, I'll try.....pound....sterling.....good. Fill yer boots everyone.
Yes mate, perfectly viable explanation.

For 'everyone' see some remainers .. good, sensible advice though.

Perhaps the algorithm everyone is blaming actually got it right. The £ is not recovering at all after the initial gain after the sell.

You're in danger of being promoted to Major Panic .. stiff upper lip and all that. :salute:

I know many on here don't care, but this is really starting to cripple my charity, raising money in the UK and sending it to Indonesia. I'm going to have to lay some people off and cut back on projects, and its harsh because its so unnecessary :(

Amusing to see how comments made by a deeply unpopular French President (who will be out of power in the upcoming election) reported in your favourite pro remain paper supposedly triggered a rogue algorithm is being presented as evidence Brexit is 'going to be a nauseating cavalcade of Brexit-induced self-harm for the next decade'.

:D

Amusing you say? And people wonder why others question the intellect of some of those revelling in the effects of Brexit.

Only repeating what was said by the German Chancellor earlier in the weak.

But Philip Hammond has stated that the Government don't recognise hard brexit or soft brexit, its just brexit, so that makes everything wonderful and we are all happy

I would hope that most people with a reasonable intellect could tell the difference between ridiculing silly OTT responses to the fall in the pound and revelling in this news.

Europe should be worrying about their falling empire. They can make all the idle threats they like but we're in the driving seat.

Unnecessary? There's that word again. Used inappropriately one more time. Unnecessary for whom? The British people voted, there would obviously be short and long term repercussions. Was it unnecessary to carry out their wishes? I am genuinely sad that your charity is suffering as a result but the market will be the market. We didn't get to vote on the basis that if we remain or leave we could have stability.

This is all tomorrow's chip paper/Britain is open for business as usual/this is great news for manufacturers/great news for foreign visitors and our tourist industry/nothing to see here/just smears by the anti-Brexit media

Just out of interest, how does the circulation of the 'anti-Brexit media' compare to that of the Mail+Sun+Express+Telegraph?

How was it avoidable? Oh I see, let's be dictated to by remainers such as yourself as we exiters are clearly too stupid to think for ourselves or look long term. It was only avoidable if the majority of people who voted in the referendum wanted us to continue in the EU. But you don't like democracy if the result doesn't go your way, a habit I presume you've learned from past EU votes.

Leaving the EU was always going to have repercussions, no one in their right mind said otherwise. The markets hate uncertainty and we have a period of relative instability now until things are formalised. Some short term effects of Brexit have worked to our advantage, some to our disadvantage. Calm down.

Patronising idiocy.

Thankfully the PM hasn't yet laid out what exiting the EU will actually look like. Hopefully, she'll be taking note of events as they unfold and allow those to colour her decisions.

Yes, if the federalists from the European Council (and Commission) had listened to the British people's concerns over the EU and been more open to a bit of reform back in February then remain might just have sneaked a win. All they had to do was allow Cameron to go back with a couple of worthwhile concessions.

Blame the likes of Tusk and Juncker for being so arrogant.

No fan of Juncker but once the tabloids got really cracking on the immigration scare halfway through the campaign there was probably nothing he could have said that would have changed the way things went. And for Brexit backers things are going brilliantly - today we wake up to a situation where leading British politicians on the winning side are flattening each other in the street, the bloke who compared the EU to the Third Reich is Foreign Secretary, a serial expenses fraudster is leading our trade negotiations, Angela Merkel is revealing that the EU isn't actually 'gagging' (favourite NSC prediction) to dismantle one of the union's founding pillars just to do a deal with us, national debts are headed upwards (don't worry, our children and grandchildren can pay) and the government is fighting through the courts to reduce the sovereignty of parliament, presumably in order to avoid a debate where logic rather than half-baked slogans apply. England's true pessimists are those who feel our country deserves no better than this.

Gods country fortnightly
Its not all bad we've held our own against the Argentine peso in 2016.

I'm seeing suppliers in my field now refusing to quote prices in GBP and only quoting in USD, I'm glad we don't have a Tory party conference every week

How are you hoping events will affect her decisions? What do you hope she'll now do differently?
