Perhaps he thinks the Labour membership is now mainly populated by the whingy/bad loser/undemocratic types ... could be right never mind he is once again ignoring/dismissing all those Labour heartlands that voted for Brexit. If people voted to stop the free movement and the terms negotiated don't allow that are you going to bleat on and on?

What about those that might have voted because of the £250m (or there abouts) that we pay to the EU. What if the deal means we have to pay £200m a week to get access. Are they going to bleat on and on.

Personally, I think Smith is wrong as I think it should be left to the civil servants to negotiate what is best for the British economy otherwise you'll get a situation where the public will expect a vote on everything!!1

The question asked was .... Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union? So I voted to leave.

Typical European way of doing things. Keep voting until the 'right' result is achieved. It's one of the reasons I voted leave, it's a lack of democratic integrity.

And incidentally, if we apply his 'reasoning' that people were lied to, we would need to rerun every election ever. Both sides lied, it's time to build for the future and stop clutching straws about things that have already transpired.

to be fair to Smith, at least he's taking a firm line on Brexit unlike the hand waving non-commitment of Corbyn. the issue is at the heart of the scism in Labour, as free movement of labour and capitial is fundamentally at odds with the principles of state control and protectionism. the hard left want the latter, the social democrat center want the former. Corbyn sits in the no mans land of metropolitan leftism believing in both without a clue how they can be reconciled.

Listen to yourself. The EU has shown over the past twenty or so years that it is unworkable. There are MANY more problems trying to stitch together a superstate than govern a sovereign country.

That's your view, the EU leadership certainly have not derived any learnings from the referendum. You have no doubt Mr Juncker has the full support of the EU's citizens when he decries border controls.

Yeah we know that but what is interesting to the moaning Remainers is why? Will your life be improved, the quality of life, your finances etc, the issue here is that we cannot believe you voted out without any other consideration.
