thanks for you interest in my investments but where did i say my 7% was over a year???
is this a classic case of willy waving ???
regards
DF

That was what was so funny about your post. You've obviously heard someone say something about investments and wanted to join in. Saying 7% is as meaningless as saying 0.5, 1/3, 7, 200 or 30,000 without any other information :dunce:

Just as, in order to willy wave, the statement would need some context of value :lolol:

And back on topic, it appears UK ministers have, in their desperation, been meeting paramilitary groups again

UK ministers meet representatives of NI paramilitaries to discuss Brexit

The Brexit minister, Lord Frost, and the Northern Ireland secretary, Brandon Lewis, met representatives of loyalist paramilitaries on Monday during a visit to Northern Ireland, it has emerged. The Loyalist Communities Council (LCC), a body which includes representatives of the UVF, UDA and Red Hand Commando paramilitary groups, confirmed a “small delegation” of its members met the ministers on Monday to discuss continuing concerns over checks on goods coming into the region from Great Britain caused by Brexit.

“The delegation emphasised the need for significant change to the Northern Ireland protocol to bring it back into consistency with the Belfast agreement and to remove the clear change in the status of Northern Ireland that has occurred due to the imposition of the protocol,” it said.

Five months in, the Northern Ireland Protocol that the UK Government wanted and designed is completely unimplementable and no obvious solution. If only somebody could have foreseen and pointed out this issue 5 years ago.

There were only ever three options

1/ Hard Border between NI and Ireland
2/ Hard Border between NI and rest of Britain and NI operates under EU rules.
3/ No Hard Border and GB operates under EU rules.

It's really not that complicated.

It's not about abandoning Brexit, It's about implementing it

The Government really have to make a decision whether they want passporting and equivalence with the EU or whether they want to get rid of regulations in the City to compete with Singapore etc, because all we have currently is death by a thousand cuts. It is particularly worrying for businesses in the City, given this Government's record for 'helping' business even before the somewhat 'brave' decision to put Kwasi in charge

Brexit hit: City of London suffers £2.3 trillion derivatives loss in a single month

The City of London suffered a loss of £2.3 trillion in a single month in its lucrative derivatives trading market, with Wall Street trading platforms the ones that benefitted. U.S. swap-execution facilities pulled in more trades across euros, pounds and dollars in March while London experienced an exodus compared to last July, while venues in the European Union also gained, according to an estimate by Deloitte and IHS Markit, reported by Bloomberg today.

Using the month of July to mark pre-Brexit activity, research shows that the percentage of euro-based swaps carried out on venues hosted by British platforms has dropped from 40 per cent in July to just 10 per cent in March, pointing to Brexit as a culprit. The figures come only a few months after Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey warned that the EU would likely try to snatch away trillions of pounds of derivatives clearing from London’s major clearing houses in a series of moves that could threaten financial stability.

Since the UK left the European Union, the latter has blocked firms based inside the borders of the EU, from using London derivatives platforms – pushing most into the U.S. so they can continue to trade.
