Tell me, do you often have thoughts/dreams like this?

I've never been to Thailand and after being told that by a work colleague after it happened to him in Phuket 30 years back on his first night there, I never have.

I'd like to think I'd be able to realise the potential pitfalls of being in such a situation though if I did and not be so naive as to fall for it though in the first place - if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Why haven't they binned it then?

Because they don't (yet) have the bottle. But the time could soon be coming where they do depending on events.

to avoid confusion, is your metaphor for joining the EU or for leaving? ???

You've agreed to leave the bar. You now have a better understanding of things. Do you want to call it off and go back and remain at the bar, or carry on with the leave decision that is somewhat not as advertised at the bar.

(I've never been to Phuket, so I would never have been in the bar/wouldn't have called the referendum in the first place.)

You somewhat misrepresent our power of Veto ! - as do you very often

As usual you have twisted the words. We did have an opt out of the euro, as did Denmark as referenced in my previous post to you.
As for being forced to join the euro if we rejoin, we haven't left yet (and hopefully won't.)

You have confirmed we don't have to join a non existent EU army which is still only a suggestion at present.

I'm sorry but this is what you said :

"We have a power of veto.
That is why we still use pounds sterling instead of the euro."

So you said we don't use the Euro because of our veto but now you say it's because we had an opt out. I agree with your second reasoning - all members had an opt out - but it doesn't stop the policy. A veto on the other hand prevents the policy going forwards for anyone - it kills it dead.

As for the EU army, strange, remainers kept saying it was a lie that it was coming yet now Merkel and Macron have said it is the logical next step. As has Verhofstadt. So much for the leave lies.

Not all EU rulings are killed stoned dead by vetos or opt outs. You are now arguing about semantics.

I have never said the EU army is a lie. It has been suggested but no action taken to put it into practice as yet. Britain has already said it will opt out/veto it.

It makes me chuckle when people do get so hot under the collar about a European army because I can remember sending signals to Brussels when I served as a Wren in the 60s. NATO had a big HQ in Brussels. We have British soldiers in the Ukraine at the moment as part of NATO.
Personally, I would rather trust Europe, at the moment, than the head of the largest country in NATO.

Where is the EU heading in the future? Are you up for the EU army? Are you totally ok with all there is ahead? I didn't get a vote all those years back. I got a chance to vote leave via the largest democratic vote in this nation's history, and I voted leave because I am not comfortable with this bloated ridiculous one size fits all ever expanding empire. This thread is a monumental waste of time. You are on board with it or it disgusts you. Nobody's changing anybody's mind here. (It is quite entertaining though in a twisted way)

One size fits all? I suggest you travel around a few EU countries and see just how different they/we are. Better be quick, because we may just be about to lose our freedom of movement.

If you're still curious knowing what you now know, you'd just have to go ahead with it to find out the rest and just hope the damage wasn't too big. (Your friends might be laughing and shaking their heads in incredulity though behind your back at what you've done - we all did at work when we got told the story.)

I'd definitely go back, apologise and stay at the bar with my friends. Post empire, the developing world is a very dangerous, corrupt place on your own.

Therein lies the biggest problem of all, facts and beliefs.
People genuinely believe the lies and cannot be persuaded, no matter how many facts are presented as evidence.

I was talking to someone involved in combatting the anti-vax conspiracy theorists. He said the more evidence you put in front of them the greater they think the conspiracy is. There are one or two Brexiters on here who think the same.

It is a belief system ie. a cult.

Blah blah blah at best on here now
Get ready for Brexit nothing's changed the vote was to leave end of arguement
Regards
DF

Lots of things have changed. Opinions have changed. The level of available information has changed. The government and Prime Minister have changed. LAWS have changed. And the vote to leave was just the start of the argument - principally among the leave voters themselves, over what they'd actually voted for.

One thing certainly hasn't changed though - you remain an abject simpleton, with no understanding of the process, and nothing to add to any debate.

There is no way you are giving up your 'Two Profs post of the day award' without a fight, is there ?

So you're comparing a vote on leaving the EU to buying some light bulbs on Amazon?

If you must know, yes I am happy with my order, possibly even more.

Proceed.

So you are proceeding with your order even though, 3.5 years after you decided to place your order, there is still no agreed definition which items you have ordered, or what each item is. Can't see what would possibly go wrong with that :lolol:

So you don't believe people who want to Remain should be given the opportunity to do so? How undemocratic.

Have we not had that vote?

Not if 'we' are one of the millions aged between 18 and 21 'we' haven't (and counting )
