We don't need a second referendum (though I'd like to see one for a laugh to see some gammon heads explode) we need to revoke A50 and forget Brexit. Nobody cared 5 years ago, nobody will care 5 months from now. Okay, a few thicko skin'eds might throw a bin at a copper or set fire to their neighbour's car but they'll soon simmer down.

It's a shame we will never leave the EU in some respects because I'd like the dimwitted leave voters to experience the carnage but luckily for them and us, we ain't going nowhere pal.

As for your other post, you will forever say that I am afraid of a second referendum unless I agree that I think we should have one. I don't fear the result, the problem is the principle. You carry out the result of the first, or none of them, ever, will mean anything. Voting itself, won't mean anything.

If we had left by now I'd be much more sympathetic to another vote, probably not so soon, but I'm not opposed to it.

I think it's utter stupidity to call for a vote, implying that you think people should be heard, when you don't want the result of a previous vote to be carried out.

You can't have it both ways. If you want a second vote, then votes matter. Which means you must carry out the leave vote. If you don't want the leave vote carried out, then votes don't matter, so don't bother asking for another one.

Alexander Boris de Piffle bungle**** Johnson resigns from her cabinet because her plan is shite, and is part of the developing process that subsequently broke her and left her in tears yet now he is trying to run the same/very similar plan? You’ve had 3.5 years and three votes to leave yet your Brexit government failed each time, driven by the hard right Brexiteer MPs. You’ve had your chance and failed.

I voted remain and am gutted we voted leave. A second referendum should not have remain as an option as the constitutional impact of a narrow remain win and the fact that this will drag this out for another few years is unthinkable. 17.4m people will not just shrug their shoulders and move on.

If there was a people’s vote us should be deal versus a customs union type option. Personally no deal shouldn’t even be an option. That way we honour the first vote while not commiting huge self harm.

It's a different people now. 2.5m new voters, and increasing at the rate of 700k per year. And about 1.8m people have died since the referendum. Any fresh vote which, in effect, assumed that nothing at all had changed since June 2016 would be a nonsense. It would also compound one of the basic flaws of the first vote - that "Leave" was so hopelessly ill-defined and allowed both campaigners and voters to let it mean whatever they wanted it to.

What troubles me is that this type of view is based on the cluster **** that has been the exit process created by Parliament where there are many MP’s who didn’t like the result and have disrupted the exit at all cost, we haven’t actually left so noone knows what a true life without membership is like.

We don't know how disengaged with the EU we will be, and that will determine largely what life without membership is like. That is where the battle mostly has been in Parliament, and because the potential outcomes are varied, some are arguing that the arrangements require the public consent as it is quite likely most of us will not have envisaged the outcome at the time of the referendum.
