Indeed. The phrase 'clean break' is pure, and deliberate, spin. A no deal brexit would be very messy, and would mean the whole rigmarole will continue for years, maybe decades.

This is going to be one of the most powerful arguments on brexit in any election: if you have 'had enough and just want it done' then a no-deal brexit is the worst possible option for you. That will, eventually, sink in, despite Farage and Johnsons deseprate efforts.

Tom Tugendhat, Tory Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commitee, has asked Dominic Raab to explain how we would trade on WTO terms in event of a no deal Brexit, when there are ‘inherent flaws ‘ and even the Leader of the organisation admits is ‘struggling with legitimacy ‘.
He asks why we would join a regime that, ( to quote) “would force UK businesses and supply chains to adapt to a new and substantially less liberal trade and regulatory architecture overnight”
He added that the USAs hostility to the WTO was another cause for concern. America is already refusing to confirm new Judges to the WTOs appeals process, which means unless they have a change of heart(Trump hates the WTO) by December then it will grind to a halt.

Mr Varadkar warned that advocates of a no-deal Brexit were wrong to suggest it would amount to a “clean break”.“In my view, the story of Brexit won’t end if the UK leaves the European Union on 31 October or even 31 January,” said the Irish premier.
“There’s no such thing as a clean break or ‘just getting it done’. Rather, we will just move on to a new phase. “If there is no deal, it will cause severe disruption for British and Irish people alike - not so much on the continent.”
And he told Mr Johnson: “Whatever happens, we will have to get back to the negotiating table quite quickly and when we do the first items on the agenda will be citizens’ rights, the financial settlement and the Irish border - all issues which we had resolved in the withdrawal agreement reached by your predecessor.”
So Johnson has done nothing absolutely nothing towards negotiating this 'Good deal', which he (along with a number of others) has always claimed is his preference
Meanwhile, it takes the Irish Taoiseach to point out that the longest, most arduous way to conclude Brexit is by starting the next phase (the trade negotiations that we have to undertake) in the weakest possible negotiating position of 'No deal' and nothing in place whatsoever

Is there a point at which it would be reasonable to conclude that people who still want a 'no deal' may be a teensy weensy bit thick ?
