Appologies, my mistake. In April these were the 6 nominations; 1 from each political grouping.

Manfred Weber — European People’s Party

Margrethe Vestager — Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe

Jan Zahradil — European Conservatives and Reformists

Bas Eickhout — Greens/European Free Alliance

Violeta Tomić — European Left

Frans Timmermans — Party of European Socialists

And that is the point that has infuriated the parliament and MEP`s and led them to label the process undemocratic . That at the end of the process, their nominations for president of the commission have been completely ignored and one candidate,Ursula Leyen, who wasnt even on the ballot and didnt have a manifesto, has been nominated to be president of the commission

Still doesnt explain how TB thinks there are currently as of now 4 candidates for president of the commission

It was democratically elected heads of state (EU Council) who have ignored the Spitzenkandidat system, although it is not in law that this has to be used.

As I said in my previous post, this is the decision of the EU leaders. Somethings that has always been in their remit and a possibility.

The question should be who should choose who is the president? MEPs, heads of state, or the public?

But then when we look closer to home we're facing having a PM with no manifesto.

Silly old bat
I think this is what you asked for.

Ska Keller (Germany, Greens)

Sira Rego (Spain, GUE/NGL)

David-Maria Sassoli (Italy, S&D)

Jan Zahradil (Czech Republic, ECR)

It was democratically elected heads of state (EU Council) who have ignored the Spitzenkandidat system, although it is not in law that this has to be used.

No it wasnt what i asked, the article was primarily concerned with the president of the commission, the nomination of this position is what has angered MEP`s , who indecently you havnt even listed.
TB came back with there are four candidates for the presidency, and since the relevant issue is the presidency of the commission, i asked for who are the four candidates for the president of the commission, not the candidates for a completely different presidential position.

The article mentions Juncker and the four nominations are to elect his successor. The other prresident Tusk, is followed by voting from leaders such as May, but as you say there is only one nomination.
It is slightly confusing mention commission and council in the same article.

I understand it is counterproductive to insult someone you hope to persuade to come to your way of thinking, but if you still think leaving without a deal on 31st October is a viable route to go down, you are an idiot.
It is not a matter of opinion that it would be damaging for the country, absolutely everyone agrees, I suspect even you realise it will do more harm than just reduce your choice of cheeses.

I see what you’ve done there. You’ve assumed, wrongly, then chastised me a moment later for said assumption. To surmise, you’re barking up the wrong tree...and the squirrels are pointing and laughing at you from another nearby.

Your point falls flat when you complain about insults being used by using an insult in your argument.

Not when it’s the currency already used by the incumbent. Know your audience!

Morning Dull Repetition
Once again... to you and all Express readers....
In our system of democracy we entrust MPs to represent our best interests as they sincerely believe it to be; as such our representatives have agency and are expected to act as they see fit, almost but not always in accordance with what we think is best. They are not merely our mouth-piece.

If you don't like what they do you can vote them out next election - but you will still get another representative charged with doing the best for us - not always what we demand!

She's old enough to remember slavery. Out of touch Dinosaur that she is.

'we are glad to be going'. Don't speak for the majority love, time for your sponge bath.

Didn't she resign from the C of E and join the catholics when the C of E came out in favour of equality for women? Rather disturbing to see a silly old middle aged former NF skin getting all tumescent over such a demented biddy.

but no deal is still on the table? there wasn't a version, people like yourself have tried to invent one , leave means leave not dangling one foot in one foot out ,roll on the 31st of October
regards
DR

It is on the table (supposedly, although realistically probably not) because they haven't been able to agree which deal has a majority. It wasn't on the table in June 2016, so you didn't vote for it, as it wasn't possible to.

No, "people like me" haven't invented the idea of doing a deal.

Leave politicians said at the time of the vote we would leave with a negotiated deal in place. It was agreed by everyone that if we do leave, we leave with a deal, because we'd rather not **** up our economy too much. It would be stupid to leave without a deal, why would you do that?

So once again, WHICH DEAL DID YOU WANT US TO LEAVE WITH IN June 2016?

Please try to just answer one question for once, it's really boring trying to debate when you just avoid the question endlessly.

Which deal did you vote for when you voted on June 2016?

Ask yourself a question. Do you really think that Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, M&S, Aldi, Lidl et al would leave themselves that exposed? I have contacts at major supermarket level who inform that this sort of planning started the day after the referendum, has carried on for the last three years and almost all areas are covered in the event of normal supply difficulties. It won't be seamless but there will minimal disruption.
As for a recession, well it feels pretty close to one already out in the market place. The weight of doom and gloom predictions and prognostications for three years plus the uncertainty of many has taken its toll on the public and general spending levels are roughly down about 20% in most sectors. There are exceptions but this is the feel in most places. It is a depressive market as opposed to a recessive market and despite clarion calls about how well we are doing, the truth is, many in business are struggling, with or without the possibilty of a no deal scenario.

Precisely. It’s my occupation and it ain’t going to be anything like what’s average joe has been lead to believe. Availability was far worse in the early 00s at one supermarket and that was due to a failed supply chain strategy implementation that saw store availability drop to 85% on key lines. Hardly end of the Soviet Union levels. The empty shelves and no medicines fear mongering is one of Remains key weapons and absolute hog wash. Of course everything and anything will be blamed on. Overnight people will forget they often can’t get stuff or it’s delayed. Lost count of how many times I’ve been to the chemist for my repeat prescription and it’s not in stock / alternatives issued. But if I can’t get my organic artisan 300g Camembert I’ll cope. Should be eating British cheese anyway, it’s far superior to many continental ones and better for the environment.

Glad it's all just Project Fear and it's everything is going to be fine. What will the border and customs arrangements be on November 1st? Or do just The NHS and Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, M&S, Aldi, Lidl et al know and nobody else does?

Labour are the opposition, it is not surprising that they vote against the Government.

I`m surprised at that view ,i thought they would vote on what was in TM`s deal and that includes Lib Dem`s and others and what form of Brexit they wanted .If they vote against the Government for the sake of it can`t see how anything will be agreed .

No one is claiming they are voting against the government 'for the sake of it'. Opposition MPs are voting against the government's deal because they oppose it. (Even some of the Tories who supported it say it is a terrible deal that will reduce Britain to a vassal state, etc.)

The situation would not have arisen if it was clear what form of Brexit the people voted for, albeit narrowly, on 23 June 2016. A clear decision by the people on a specific way forward would solve the problem.

West is BEST
Now is not the time to be isolating ourselves, limiting our choices of allies or buddying up to the likes of Trump. We are manoeuvring ourselves into a very, very weak position. Nobody seems to have the guts to say this and do something about it. Frightening.

So despite believing it won’t be as bad as many would like us to believe, based on years of experience, I know **** all and you’re much better placed than anyone else to pass comment and we should all believe you instead. Ok. Which constituency do you represent? And which multi National did you resign from as CEO to serve your community instead? And how do you find the time to post on NSC all the time too? I’m all ears...
