Bloody Worthing!
Boooo, I wanted to post this.

My very favourite subsection of fudging idiot Brexiters:-

'Life intrinsically linked to the EU - voted to Leave the EU - then discover their life was intrinsically linked to the EU'.

Absolute MORONS, every single one of them.

"I might as well drop dead" :lolol:

Truly a great patriot and an inspired businessman! I recall watching something similar from Bognor - a woman who runs an Employment Agency specialising in providing reliable EU workers ……. but rabidly pro-Brexit.

The attitude of “something will get sorted” is rapidly unravelling. Who knew ignoring a problem doesn’t make it go away?!

He seems so confused and angry about his own confusion. Almost like reality really doesn't fit well with the utter bollocks he's had spoonfed to him by certain newspapers.

2 businesses featured on Radio 5 today. Both from North Wales both involve exporting 'live' produce to EU (bees and mussels). If lorries are delayed by as little as 2 days stock will be dead on arrival. End of 2 businesses.

Perhaps 'Dead on Arrival' could be the new tag line for Brexit?

Shame you only ever tell a part of the story. This was on tv as well.Forgotten the bit about them doing extra business so they can have 8 months holiday till the politicians have sorted it?Or was it tactical deafness?

Free movement irritating the drones and bots today. To suggest those workers ain't coming anymore is laughable to anybody living in an area that knows what migrant labour looks like.Plenty of new Rumanians working for Extra personnel up here.

And when freedom of movement ends? If they are still coming then we may as well stay in eh?

My favourite was the Brexit Brits who wintered in their homes on the Costa whatever.

Who knew their lives would be turned upside down after they voted to leave the place they were living in.

MORONS.

This bit didn't feature (and if it did I certainly didn't hear it) on the R5 interview in 'Wake-Up to Money". They just told it how it is and, with good reason, were not happy. So in the lit of things I should feel ashamed of (and it is not a short list) this one doesn't feature.

The Tory wreckers (Francois and his pals) are incensed by TM 'selling out' the 2017 Tory Manifesto. But this very same document promised a smooth and orderly Brexit. How can this be delivered with the no-deal they lust after? They really do seem to be playing dirty: another (pointless, but sh*t stirring) vote of no-confidence against May on Wednesday? Is there nothing these people won't do to get their own way?

Quite.

Page 30 of the manifesto makes it quite clear and explicit.

The only people selling out the 2017 Tory Manifesto are those Tories who have voted against May's deal.

Francois wants another vote on May.

He really should get over it, he lost.

No, sadly there's nothing that will satisfy the lust for their vision of their nation state, their desire for their elitist sovereignty, their ruling classes to regain their elite position in their kind of society, except for the hardest of hard leaving.
We as voters have given them the mandate they required and now there is nothing we can do except hope the majority of MPs who now see where this is ultimately taking us can resist?.
All I can suggest is what will be will be and accept whatever happens and make the best of it we can, after all there's nothing we can say or do on here which will make any difference, we are but the chattering classes!

Mark Francois isn't the brightest, is he? (Or is he in fact a double agent?)

On the World at One, in the light of his letter calling for a new no confidence vote in Theresa May (see 1.05pm), Mark Francois was asked why there should be a second vote when May won the one that was held in December. It was force majeure, he replied. He went on:

If when that vote of confidence had taken place my colleagues had known that the prime minister was prepared to sit down and negotiate with a Marxist, someone who is utterly opposed to everything that we in the Tory party believe, and that she would do so in order try and lead us into a customs union, which is utterly against our manifesto commitments, and which would mean that we would remain in the European Union, the vote against her would have been far higher. Clearly, we did not know at the time. But we know it now. And so, under those circumstances, I believe it is very important that colleagues have a chance to express their opinion on her leadership.

The Lib Dem MP Layla Moran said it was hypocritical of Francois to back a second vote on May, but not a second vote on Brexit. In a statement released by the anti-Brexit Best for Britain campaign she said:

Mark Francois has a point for once: how can a decision made prior to the full picture being revealed be binding when its consequences are so large?

It’s just a shame that Francois seems to want one thing for himself, while making it his job to prevent the same opportunity being extended to the public.

Any decision on something as big as Brexit needs to scrutinised by the people. Whatever deal can be agreed on by politicians needs to have the public’s sign off.

Having watched numerous variations of Brexit voted down by Commons, one solution might be have a poll in parliament, where numerous options are put on one ballott and MPs can vote for as many as they would support. That way one form of Brexit is not 'up against' the others in such a way that votes are stolen, allowing 'No Brexit' to win by default. The one that gets the greatest support wins. To sharpen the mind, 'No Brexit' must, nevertheless, be on the ballot. I do not think that No Brexit would win that vote, by the way (which is part of the reason I don't like this proposal - fancy that, eh? ???).

The other reason I don't like this proposal is this is not how parliamentary voting is done. Moreover there is every chance that whichever option has the single largest vote is still supported by fewer than 50% of MPs, which would not look good. So....I guess that if Parliament is to decide, it will have to be some weird concoction invented by May and Corbyn (ho ho) or the May plan, sent back yet again to grind the poor MPs down.

So, my proposal is neither feasible nor palatable. But.....hang on! It could instead be rolled out as a second referendum. No, wait..... Given that all but one option on the ballott would be a form of Brexit, and only one option would be 'no Brexit', and if the electorate were allowed to vote for as many options as they fancied, I don't see how anyone could claim the process would 'steal our Brexit'. Better, surely, than a May/Corbyn coalition, or yet another vote on the May 'plan'?

The advantages are that this would finally allow the people to express their view on exactly what sort of Brexit they want. I would not even antagonize Brexitters by adding what should have been in the original Brexit vote - a threshold for change (e.g., a minimum of 60% of voters in support). No, make it 'option with the largest number of votes wins'. Simple.

Surely Brexitters are not afraid that the majority might support 'no Brexit'? My gut feeling is that 'no Brexit' would not win.

So the last question is what should be on the ballot? Sadly it would have to be something that the EU would agree to, so 'all the benefits and none of the costs' would be ineligible.

I am not sufficiently covered in navel fluff to recall which of the various options have already been ruled out by the EC. Anyway, this is sort of what a poll might look like. If anyone has the energy to start a new thread with a version of this poll (same rules) then go for it:

'Vote for as many of the following you would be prepared to see the nation taking forward in its negociations with the EU, with the option obtaining the largest number of votes becoming policy; note that options already ruled out by the EU are not included in the ballot'
