I glanced at the Millwall forum just now and wasn't remotely surprised to see its Brexit thread about 99 per cent in favour of Leave, the harder the better.

Bercow is today's primary hate figure but the main rage seems to be aimed at the metropolitan elite conspiring to halt their dream - making Rees-Mogg PM would apparently solve this.

I fully understand their fury with Bercow, how dare he deny Rees-Mogg a 3rd chance to vote against the deal.

Theresa May hasn't moved one inch. Her letter to Donald Tusk says she wants to bring her deal to a third vote, despite the Speaker saying she can't and the EU saying they won't give an extension for the same deal.

I read she said twice in PMQ's that she's not going to consider an A50 extension beyond June 30th.

She just needs say that 106 more times and it'll draw level with the we're leaving on 'March 29th' one and be really, really convincing.

The EU working with Turkey to encourage it to become a State that is able to join the EU is different to Turkey is set to join.
I would like Turkey to have the levels of Human rights, democracy, rule of law, respect and protection of minorities and a robust, open economy that the EU requires of it's members, and encouraging Turkey to get there is no bad thing. Lets assume that eventually Turkey does in fact complete all the chapters and becomes eligble to join, and Cyprus and Greece don't object, what would be your concern about that? The Lady tells us that "the majority of Turkey is in the East, it's in Islam" , is that the problem?

What this shows is the poor understanding of what "No Deal" really means. We would end up needing and negotiating lots of bi-lateral agreements with the EU, and they would undoubtedly remind us of our Good Friday Agreement obligations and our £39 Billion tab before we got anything other than just the basic necessary's.

80 million peoples, an active military personnel that is the same as the UK and France combined and a NATO state since 1952. Militarily, as it is a NATO country, the UK would be bound to defend Turkey under Article 5 of the NATO rules.

Therefore, in economic, strategic and military terms it is a country you want onside. However, the real problem is that European governments are secular whereas Erdogan is Islamist, so you get democratic 'backsliding'.

I think more significant is the fact that if Turkey is admitted then the European Union will include a large area of territory that is not in Europe. Does this mean we would consider admitting, say, Morocco because we share the Mediterranean Sea with them?

I believe the EU should aim for a separate status for those nations adjacent to the natural borders of Europe so that we have a coherent accord right the way from Morocco to Egypt, up through Israel to Syria and Turkey.

She can bring her deal for a third vote. There are ways around the Speaker's intervention:

All eyes are now on Thursday's summit of EU leaders, where they will discuss what to do next. Their decisions are likely to shape what happens in Parliament next week.

If the EU agrees to an extension, MPs are likely to be asked to approve re-writing the Brexit date.

Whether the government tries to bolt another vote on the PM's deal onto this remains to be seen.

Some people think this could happen if alternative ways of getting round Mr Bercow's ruling - such as changing standing orders or even terminating the session of Parliament early - are deemed too difficult.

Nikki da Costa, a former director of legislative affairs at No 10, has suggested there could be two votes - one in which MPs are asked to over-ride the conventions outlined by the Speaker and another on the deal itself.

Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay has also hinted at this, telling the BBC that while he "respected the referee's decision", MPs would always "find a way" of expressing their will if the circumstances changed.

And the EU would grant an extension if they thought there was a chance the deal would be passed. They don't want a no deal situation.

What strikes me as somewhat ridiculous is that before stating she wanted an extension until the end of June, she apparently did not clarify with the EU whether this is possible. Or did receive clarification and just ignored it. But May has form for this kind of thing.

The European Commission is telling EU leaders that the UK must take part in elections for the European Parliament if it stays in the EU beyond 23 May.

In a document seen by the BBC, the Commission says: "Any extension offered to the United Kingdom should either last until 23 May 2019 or should be significantly longer and require European elections.

"This is the only way of protecting the functioning of the EU institutions and their ability to take decisions."

I suppose we have to congratulate Vladimir on his victory over the UK in 9 days time. *No deal* collapse. Couldn't have done it without his agents of influence and their russian girlfriends.

Nikki da Costa, a former director of legislative affairs at No 10, has suggested there could be two votes - one in which MPs are asked to over-ride the conventions outlined by the Speaker and another on the deal itself.

Given that the Speaker has the only authority to grant which motions are heard / voted on, is he really to be expected to allow a vote on "should MPs be allowed to ride roughshod over 400 years of Parliamentary convention?"
