How can a second referendum make things any worse than they are now? Nothing will change in the minds of those that want to Leave now - with or without a Deal, and nothing will change in the minds of those that want remain and believe in the European Project.

Furthermore, there are 13 million people that didn't vote that might have come to a decision now that the facts are clearer. And what about the 2.4 million young voters that have turned 18 since the referendum back in 2016 - shouldn't they get a say on the deal reached in Parliament?

Never sure about the demographic argument, oldies are always dying and new voters coming onto the electoral role.

I wouldn't stop over 70's from voting as some have voiced on here, but with it being a lifetime decision the 16 and 17 year olds should be allowed to vote, as should EU nationals who have been here more than 15 years

The most undemocratic thing to do is NOT have a public ratification of Brexit,

We ALL know a lot more now

We now know what Brexit means to our economic future and the unity of the United Kingdom

This is a decision for the British people, not English Tory MP's

If a second Brexit referendum was held how would you vote?

The most undemocratic thing to do is NOT have a public ratification of Brexit.

Any decision of this scale should need two referendums so that we have an informed vote the second time round.

Q1: What would you like?
Q2: This is the Deal, do you still want it?


However, on this occasion, having a two vote process prior to negotiations would have meant we’d ended up with an awful deal.

But guess what, we got one anyway!

This argument about people disconnecting with democracy works both ways. We’re in danger of alienating the educated classes (who mainly voted remain) if we don’t ask the people to sign off the Maydeal.

Responsibility for the UK parliament overwhelmingly supporting giving the people a referendum by 544 votes to 53... the government promising to enact the result then the government/parliament screwing up the leaving process .... all my or any leave voters fault

In the same way that if there was a choice between no deal or May's deal most remainer MP's would vote for the least worst option (May's deal) from their perspective.

Enacting the referendum result is democracy. Enacting the manifesto commitments made by the party that formed the government after the 2017 General election is democracy. Ignoring or subverting either severely(possibly fatally) undermines democracy.
