Given that he is an economist, his views about economists also extend to himself. As for calling people kooks, and strawman arguments like invoking "anti-vaxxers", you are just too intellectually lazy to have a conversation with, let's just not bother.

No, he is an economist so his views extend to his, and my, profession. Or the conduct he considers unbecoming from the perspective of a 19th century Drunken German philosopher. whichby definition puts him on the fringe.

Its not a straw man argument but a legitimate comparison. They say dont trust professionals in medicine, use the alternative stuff by amateurs etc. Which is the same argument as saying dont trust economists on economics, trust those with no experiance of economics.

FTR there are some, a very few, doctors who take that approach.

who is being intellectually lazy?

Shame on Cameron for trying to scare pensioners now. There really is no-one safe from his bullying.Next he'll be telling those on disability payements, the severely handicapped etc that they will lose their benefits if we leave. The man is desparate. The best thing about leaving is that this low life will be out of a job.

Thought Andrew Marr summarised the remain campaign perfectly this morning when he stated Cameron's sole approach was 'stay or the puppy gets it'

That falls into the rather unhelpful stereotype that the unemployed choose to remain in this situation as a lifestyle choice. I thought it was also the case that people claiming jobseekers must take any suitable available work on offer or face losing their benefits.

Over 50% of new jobs went to foreign born migrants in the last parliament which obviously limits the opportunities for people here. A Bank of England report recently found migration (including from the EU) has suppressed wages for low/semi skilled workers, the more migrants the bigger the effect.

This isn't a sterotype, ask yourself how a migrant who speaks limited english manages to get a job over someone born and educated in this country?

Claimants have to be actively seeking work but it is not hard to make yourself unemployable.

Economists are not like Doctors, although they often like to present themselves that way.

Trusting an economist to be correct is similar to trusting a bookmaker to be correct. Except, unlike economists, when a bookmaker is wrong they have to pay for it.

It has 'suppressed wages' by less than 1% over 8 years. Meanwhile EU membership has not impacted upon wider British employment. UK unemployment is at 5%. EU migrants come to the UK, pay taxes and subsidies services for native Brits.

The LSE’s Jonathan Wadsworth said: “The bottom line, which may surprise many people, is that EU immigration has not harmed the pay, jobs or public services enjoyed by Britons. In fact, for the most part it has likely made us better off. So, far from EU immigration being a “necessary evil” that we pay to get access to the greater trade and foreign investment generated by the EU single market, immigration is at worse neutral, and at best, another economic benefit.”http://www.theguardian.com/politics...ck-are-eu-migrants-really-taking-british-jobs

Unbelievable. It's a survey by Ipsos mori - an independent polling company not the newspaper's opinions. Your reaction is hilarious as you would obviously rather believe what the Sun tells you then the findings of a survey by a reputable research company, whose entire reputation is based on being independent and objective as possible. Unfortunately it's idiots like you who are preventing people from being properly informed about the debate.

Quote the FT "one of their journalists wanted to join the Euro in 1997 and are therefore wrong"

Quote economists "economists have been wrong in the past, therefore are wrong now"

Quote myriad of respected international economic bodies "They accepted a research grant from the EU and therefore must be wrong"

Rather than keep trawling google for reports to support your case accept that there are also reports that say the opposite. The reality is no-one knows what will happen if we leave or stay from an economic point of view.Forecasts etc are irrelevant.Whether or not we have benefitted from migrants cannot be said for certain. What can be said for certain is that we have too many migrants, will have too many in the new few years if we don't leave and do not make all our own laws. These are facts so I'm voting on facts not guesswork.

Well you learn something every day.Ipsos-Mori,a polling company who get most of their work through various Government departments,is completely independent and non-biased.In other news, the tooth-fairy and mad-hatter have backed Remain.

So you're saying MORI just made the figures up? Ridiculous.

Reported in the Financial Times as well (see image and link below), but yes carry on believing what's written in the Sun.

The really funny thing is it isn;t even pro-Remain or pro-Leave. It's just showing how misinformed people are. The Leave camp seem determined to peddle the myths. Why is that? Is it because their arguments don't stand up to any scrutiny? I've yet to see any reasoned argument from that side backed up by facts. The simple fact alone that the £350m a week is complete tosh says it all really.
