I can just imagine the pressure the EU big wigs will put on Ireland if 26 agree to a really good deal (for both sides) and the Irish try to block it. They'll probably make them have a series of referendums over it until they get the 'right /' answer. It's the EU way - and why we're leaving.

If it's why you're leaving then it's not a good reason. The last time the Irish reran an EU referendum it followed, as in the case of Denmark, a major shift by the EU; a change in the rules that the people demanded and, via, democratic means, got.

Our (reminder to many on this thread that's the UK side) position from the start was nothing is agreed till everything is agreed and we would honour our obligations/commitments. There has been talk of 100bn Euros, 20 bn, now 50 bn but no figure has been agreed.

As one of many reasons for leaving, it's good enough for me (and a few others - slightly more than your lot!)

its pretty obvious they are making enough noise to make it look like whatever agreement is upcoming was a victory for Ireland/EU. the negotiations need to move on to trade, precisely because they cant completly settle the Ireland issue until they do (because EU's self imposed conditions). the consequences if they dont, if the EU string this out and play for hard brexit in hope of UK abandoning the process, is very high stakes for Ireland, because if they lose Ireland will be the hardest hit from no deal.

As it stands, how can anyone say that Brexit is going well because it just isn't, what the outcome will be nobody knows, but how can you deny that our so called Government is an embarrassing mess, Europe are pulling all the strings, it's a farce, so far.
