At the first sign of Gibraltar being something that might be discussed in the course of Brexit negotiations, Tory warmongers like Howard come crawling out to remind us all that warfare is the way to resolve the issue.

It isn't. Discussion is the way forward.

I take it you would be happy if, say, Argentina, had dropped off a boatload of settlers on the Channel islands a couple of centuries back, and continued to claim sovereignty in the 21st century?

Perhaps they should ask him of his views on the Tories management of the armed forces? Cancelling the order for the planes for the carrier in favour of another type of aircraft then finding out that would mean expensive changes to the design of the carrier and cancelling that order to go back to the original planes, all of which wasted over £100m and means we will now have a carrier with nothing to carry when it hopefully gets going later this year!!!

We have been told on countless times that leave voters knew what they were voting for and we would we would all be better off outside the EU. So they must have been fully aware of what impact a hard border would have on Gibraltar and the threat of Spain being difficult with Gibraltar going forward so they must have a solution that provides for the best deal possible for Britain (including Gibraltar).

Perhaps they would like to set out what this best possible deal is for Gibraltar so we can measure the success or otherwise in 2 years time.

But prefer to be British. They voted Remain, but that doesn't mean they want to be Spanish. It just eased the border crossings every day for commuters.

Let's just say the Spanish government were mad enough for the sake of debate.

The size of the Spanish military against that of the United Kingdom would be of too much weight to re-take an area that is in their own back yard without immeasurable and unacceptable casualties.

It is not a straight forward match on a level playing field. The logistical deployment of military would be nigh on impossible without outside assistance.

If Spain invaded Gibralter there is nothing we could do to stop them from fortifying the territory to make it unrecoverable.

Spain has a military personnel count not far off ours. Their air force is a third of our size and the naval force about half. That would be enough to see us off if they are on home ground when a land invasion is needed.

Worry not ! One of the leading lights of the Leave campaign is now Foreign Secretary so he'll have had a handle on this from the off. We are lucky to be in such safe hands.
