I don't get the big issue with this. The U.K. Government has stated it was willing to sort this issue out before the negotiations started, but this was rejected by the EU. But the usual idiots seem to think that the problem is with the U.K. and not the EU.

If the EU was that concerned about the uncertainty for the millions of EU/UK citizens currently living/working abroad, this issue could quite easily have been agreed. It's the EU putting the block on things, not the UK.

They don't seem to give a monkeys about uncertainity for UK nationals living in mainland Europe, willing to unilaterally surrender any bargaining power for what could turn out to be a meaningless gesture.

Thankfully the Government take their responsibility of protecting UK citizens more seriously.

And yet the usual suspects cant help themselves can they and use the actions of a tiny few to say nationally a lot of Brexiters wanted EU foreigners sent home after a win vote.
Some people listened to the debate with closed ears and pre judged closed minds and just have a continued very low opinion of The British public.

In which case, if it’s a possibility why the hell would people insist EU citizens here have their rights now,before a reciprocal agreement, knowing our own nationals are left in the crap with possible repatriation looming.

You don't know the answer any more than I do. In fact, I just said IF whereas you seem to be certain. The only thing we know at this precise moment is that the terms of Brexit are completely up for proposition, change and negotiation. Let's do this pissing contest when we know the agreement eh?

I'd say disgusting. Using EU families, and citizens, as hostages and bargaining chips is abhorrent, and grubby, and desperate. Hasn't May got anything else she can offer than human lives? Can't she trade with the Italians using Prosecco? I'm sure I have heard this. Or maybe use good old fashioned diplomacy?

What is the difference between "forced" repatriation and "involuntary" repatriation?

Reciprocal medical care arrangements exist with non EU countries so why would this protocol not exist with EU countries post Brexit?

In that instance she's correct. Good on her for sticking to her guns. Braver than most of the Brexit politicians who dumped us in it and scarpered.

I would go for the diplomacy option as well, come to a mutual agreement during negotiations......or even before.
Agree, EU holding out and standing firm on their ‘no negotiations without notification’ principle is a bit grubby, they could open discussions on this issue now and have it mutually agreed asap, but dont appear to want to do that.
