Just not our night. Caicedo's shot could have easily gone in. As could Solly's header.

Not the greatest challenge from Veltman for the penalty, but at the same time its a massive dive the way Toney throws his legs out from under himself.
It wasn’t just me then. It seemed the most obvious dive against us since Maddison was yellow carded for “anticipating contact“ from Duffy, who was a good yard away……. And second yellow so he was sent off.

Toney is a Nast cheating whingeing Zaha copy.

A lot of blue tinted glasses on here tonight. We lost to a team that we did the double over last year, a hard working side but apartfrom Toney, no player we would be interested in signing. No style, no plan, we were really quite poor. Gross and Mcalister were awful, so far away from the commanding performances under potter. What has RDZ done to them. Could have played for a week and still not scored. Early days, but we are far worse now than shortly before GP left.

Starting a revolution from my bed
Joel Veltman: "We didn't play bad even though we lost 2-0. Details. Their keeper had an amazing day. Sometimes you have to accept that. They scored twice. That was the difference.

"We knew it would be a more fighting game than nice football here. We fought well. Our fighting spirit was there. We could do more with second balls.

"A draw [would have been] fair enough."

Roberto de Zerbi: "I think to win the game you have to score. We had 21 shots on the goal but we have not found the goals. We lost the second ball too many times.

"About the game I think we played a good game but if you want to win you have to score. I can't say anything more.

"We have had a lot of potential chances but many shots on the goal and we didn't find the goal. The time, the last pass, the crosses, we made mistakes."

On the importance of Brentford's penalty: "It was a crucial moment but I had belief until the end of the game because one goal could have opened the game again."

On his clash with Thomas Frank: "No problem [between us]. I don't like when the other coach touches my player and when another coach speaks with my player because I never spoke with the other player from the other team."

Roberto de Zerbi: "To win a game you have to score. We shot 21 times. We don't find the goals. We lose too many second balls, too many duels. After this I think we played a good game.

"The Brentford goalkeeper played very well. But we made mistakes about shooting, about the last pass, about crosses. But this is the right way for us, for our players. We have to do more. We have to improve, to learn, to understand."

On tributes to Enock Mwepu: "We wanted to win the game for him. We're sorry for this. We'll try to win the game against Nottingham on Tuesday."
I’m glad he’s acknowledged the second balls. It’s a big issue with the way he’s trying to play, when we lose the ball or the opposition lose the ball we haven’t had players picking it up. Makes a huge difference to transitions in play and has really hindered us in the last two games. He needs to sort it out because it hasn’t been an issue for a long time and worryingly it’s crept in since he’s arrived. I can only assume it’s because players are being asked to take up different areas on the pitch than they were previously.

Yep.

I enjoyed the football, but not the result, obviously.

I like Toney. Seems like a nice lad. And his penalty record is something else.

I like Bentford, too. No shithousery.

Weekend destroyed now, though. :shootself
Are you being ironic? drama queens and Tom Daley copycats all over the park!

Love his honesty and his passion- he kicks every ball from the dugout so different to Potter, he will be a huge success here, let’s just be patient !!

Thought Pervis was having his best game and was our best attacker in 1st half Surprised taken off
Everything about their first goal was Estupinan's fault though: Stupid loopy hospital pass causing us to give away the free kick, then making a terrible defensive decision/non-challenge on the resulting attack.

I appreciate he has big hair to fill.

Nothing like positivity then

I’ve not all the posts, but I did watch the game. They di a job on us…. Agaim. Worst performance of the season. Although I Am not too depressed.

Brentford had clearly watched the spurs game. Much the same. I get Rdz wants to play out from the back and through the middle. Even tighter than Potts. We aren’t confident enough yet. we affforded potter 3 years. And I am sure we’ll get better. But we were so slow In the final third. Which I am lead to believe is not rdz‘s style.

so much to learn and we have to hold our nerve again….. that wasn’t pretty!

Yes we are, but it took Gpot 3 years to get there, some of our passing and playing was superb, but yes we've regressed, my guess is about 6-12 months.

The only thing that really annoyed me last night was Bob dad dancing like a f***ing tool on the goal line for the penalty . . .just makes it so so easy for a bang average penalty taker to score.

I'm not worried, but Tony does need to back him and the team now, and in January. Subject to viable options being available.

I'm sure BobDZ has already highlighted a few targets.

In the cold light of morning, our familiar failings were present again. Like our slumps last season, our inability to score first kills us. Chasing the game, teams know they can cede possession to us and try and block, then hit on the break.
Brentford deserved to win because they set up to play to their strengths.
