Poor tonight. Why keep trying to play down the middle when their defence is packed?

I didn’t realise Tony was another Zaha either. Hope he recovers from Veltmans’s tackle in time for the World Cup.

Nothing like a defeat on a Friday to f*** up your weekend.

Hardly a disaster. This transitional period was never going to be easy.

Just hope Steve Cooper doesn't give us an early Halloween horror! :devilish:
Why ? Just carry on doing exactly the same thing, or at least try to - not that hard.

What a mess of a game shots possession all Brighton, Brentford’s keeper made several brilliant saves, we didn’t really get going until they scored the second and the penalty was a dreadful decision Veltman did touch Tony’s leg followed by a very delayed decision to dive, Brentford went to ground time and time again claiming terrible injuries I really do not like to see that sort of behaviour

21 attempts with an XG of 1.79 tells the story, way too slow in the build up and looking for the extra pass and overplaying

We are missing someone turning (first time) and finishing

Hopefully we see Enciso or Sarmiento on Tuesdays as either of these two have it in them.

Hate losing on a Friday night

72% possession, but didn't take our chances. Difference in finishing. We've been here before.

Away from the Albion, Toney deserves to make the plane for Qatar. And he can take a penalty.

They had a plan - they executed it perfectly- Alot of poor passes and a lot of wrong choices - RBZ will learn a lot from this, all part of the learning curve - were we out played ? No we just lacked intensity and urgency going forward- when we were in the final third, we were passing it about like we were coming out of defence -
Where was the spark we had at Liverpool? Tonight we hadn’t a clue in and around the box !!

Honestly the most unlucky game since that Man U at home one. Comfortably the better team - one of those - take it on the chin and move on. Yes we needed to create a bit more and take our chances but we’ve done that we’ll all season - but of luck today and balls falling to us and we win that 4-0 - literally. Just move on and take it as one of them nights in my opinion!

At least we can all agree that Brentford stink the EPL out. I hope they go down.

A couple of steps backwards to (hopefully) take more steps forward.

The dream of a seamless transition from this year's potter all is obviously not going to happen.

We need to dig in and get behind De Zerbi and hope he gets it right sooner rather than later.

Back to being a work in progress.

Worth noting too that Brentford away is a very difficult game.

Just not our night. Caicedo's shot could have easily gone in. As could Solly's header.

Not the greatest challenge from Veltman for the penalty, but at the same time its a massive dive the way Toney throws his legs out from under himself.
Yep.

I enjoyed the football, but not the result, obviously.

I like Toney. Seems like a nice lad. And his penalty record is something else.

I like Bentford, too. No shithousery.

Weekend destroyed now, though. :shootself

I thought Caicedo was excellent Tonight. He was everywhere and getting stuck in. Agree very ponderous at times and I’m disappointed in the penalty. Yes, Veltman made contact but not enough for him to go down like that. VAR needs to be better there imo. But we could have another 90 minutes in the end and wouldn’t have scored tonight it was just one of those days.
21 shots with 7 on target, that’s an improvement from previous seasons and not fair to not mention how well Raya played tonight. Pundits will rage over Toney (admittedly first goal was excellent) but Raya was their best player. They are a very good side and I’m still positive RDZ will be ok.

Why do wesame as spurs try to walk a ball in2 the net passing through a crowded edge of the d? Get it wide feed welbeck and win 2nd balls. Simple but we over complicate it
