Next up is City on 6 September for tier 1.

Fully expect we will be back to why we didn't take our full allocation rather than selling out to tier 1 and underhand tactics to secure tickets for mates in tier 2.

My reply didn't say that. It said "at 9am we still had tickets left for Brentford" - there was no mention of Tier 2.

Anyway, I had already gone back saying:

A couple of people have already responded on the availability of tickets at 9am this morning and, looking at the ticket site myself for the fixture, it does say: "This fixture has sold out to Season Ticket Holders with 280+ points" which I think people are interpreting as selling out at Tier 1, as that was the 280+ point stage of sales and, from memory, this would mean that any subsequent re-sale of any spare tickets would only be offered to those people (Tier 1) and not Tier 2.​

...to which the reply was...

"When we spotted what had happened this morning we decided not to open tickets to window 2 and the last few sold after the sessions were cleared. If we get more tickets returned they will go to window 1."​

I'll not go back again, as I don't want to bog the club down with my emails, and I was just trying to provide some clarity for people on this thread.

I wonder if it would be useful if the club stated the total number of tickets available to fans, and the number of people within Tier 1, in order that people are able to assess their likelihood of obtaining tickets. It would also help groups who are splitt between Tiers 1 and 2 - the "shall we buy now, or wait?" conundrum.

I'm not aware of literally zero tickets reaching Tier 2 before.

My interpretation of that reply is that tier 1 lead purchasers were holding off on completing their purchase (that included tier 2s), they then noticed that the club had cleared the baskets and then it was every man for himself as the tier 1s abandoned their tier 2 mates and just bought their own. The last few tickets then sold out at tier 1 at 9 am. Call me a bit of a cynic……

I still think they got their maths wrong for this one. I can’t believe every tier 1 person bought a ticket. Just not possible. They set the points level too low forgetting the allocation was lower than the typical 3,000. Someone didn’t update their spreadsheet properly. I’d bet my lucky pants on it.

I appreciate mistakes get made and/or things do not go to plan, but what disappoints me is the club have seemingly changed the rules for this allocation. By the club's own admission there were tickets still avaiable at 9am, they should have therefore opened it up to tier 2. Whilst this would probably have not made much difference yesterday, it would mean that tier 2 people will have a chance to purchase any returns.

'tickets available, next tier opens' is the process the club have communicated and which supporters have understood for some time, and the process they are not now following for Brentford.

Agree with this. Tier 1 had too many people in it - no way it would get that close to selling out if it was done in the usual way.

You only need to refer back to last season. Saturday afternoon 3pm kick off, new ground, London and it didn't sell out at tier 1. OK not many tickets left for tier 2 but you would expect the same this season.

Obvious solution, tier 1 should have been 400+ points, tier 2 350+ points.....

I think you have to factor in the improvements in the team and our away form as well. People are much more inclined to go and watch us away from home these days as they know we will always compete. Compare that to a few seasons ago (particularly under CH) and you could pretty much guarantee a negative result away from home.

Tier 2 is usually way down (ie massive), and 400 is too high (I’ve been comfortably in T1 for the last 4-5 seasons at least but nowhere near that number)

So this year it is not a new ground, it is a Friday night game and on the TV which would usually reduce the numbers who will attend so something went wrong (I say this as someone who was in Tier 2).

Apparently, you now have to collect them at the Brentford ticket office before the game. With photo ID for every ticket owner. It's the law. Except for Arsenal games.
