The Fulham points went on last night - I checked around 10.45 PM and my 279 had tipped to 284 so was able to buy a ticket. I think there were 17 left.
Exactly - even amongst the most loyal away attendees who sit at the top of the points chart, there are always going to be people who can't go, or choose not to go, to any given fixture. For most games, I would guess Tier 1 take up is even lower than your 90% level.
So, the Brentford game sounds like it can only really be one of...
- Mis-calculation on those with 280+ points and available seats.
- "The Fulham effect" with some Tier 2 being bumped into Tier 1 with the addition of Fulham points. Although it sounds like some will have benefitted from this, it sounds like there were only a handful of tickets left anyway, fewer than would ordinarily be the case ahead of a Tier 2 sale window.
- The club know that typical take-up in Tier 1 is, say 80%, so they reduced the size of Tier 1 to around this level instead of c100%.

Maybe just not thought through properly. If they were going to add Fulham points last night they should have set the tier 1 level to include points earned at Fulham. The initial tier 1 points level would then have been higher.
Not only fair, but it is completely necessary to enable family/friends groups to sit together.

Only IF the fan the ticket has been bought for is attending the match.
Loads of paper based admin and ID checks would be necessary... i think this will have to wait until digital away tickets are a thing.
Probably meant 'if the person buying the tickets has bought a ticket' - actual attendance is a separate issue......

When the on sale dates were announced i was very surprised to find the first tier set at 280 and remarked about it to a friend of mine . My reasoning being that i was about three points short of being in the top tier for Bournemouth and missed out so having been to West ham and Man U decided to go to Forest Green as well in the hope that unlike last year the 5 points on offer would enable me to be in top tier for Brentford . Thus i was amazed to find that not only was i indeed in the top tier but by a very comfortable 18 points !
I duly bought yesterday morning at 9.00 but out of interest kept looking until i left home to go to Fulham at about 10.30 and felt that the rate of sales reflected my thought that the first tier may well have been too low . This was further confirmed by my friend who i went with looking on his phone as we had a beer by the river thames at about 5.30 and seeing only about 30 left , this being , i would imagine , before the fulham points went on .
I also looked after i arrived back home last night and can confirm it was down to single figures at that stage although it did seem on refreshing to sometimes go up by a few as well as down ! ( cannot think why that may be ) . Hope this helps

I have 112 points, was only a STH for the first time last season after going to games here and there since 2006.
I get the system, but it's just a bit frustrating sometimes.

London away games overrated. Much prefer full day out 3 pm away days. I’m tier 1 and decided not to go to Brentford. Saving money for Citeh away (a Sat 3 pm KO, I think)
I've had a quick response from the club, which they are happy for me to share...
Firstly just to confirm at 9am we still had tickets left for Brentford. We were however aware of eligible fans holding seats online for others in the next window. This is not something we have noticed as an issue before and as a result we had to clear everyone’s sessions this morning.
I think it is fair to say that the uptake on the Brentford tickets was unlike anything we have seen before. Virtually every single person eligible to buy bought. In addition to this we found a new issue of supporters holding seats and effectively blocking out others.
The Fulham points update was scheduled last night in preparation for this morning. This didn’t push many people in to the first bracket but going forward will be standardising points updates for 8am the following day, for the rare time that a game is played during an on sale.
We have increasingly found that away tickets are being passed on. Ejections and arrests that we have been notified of have not matched the ticket holders details. We are now looking in to checks at away grounds to try to stop this and ensure those that get tickets are the ones travelling.

Still a little ambiguous on the Fulham points. People on here have said they saw these added last night. The clearing of baskets to disallow tier 1 buyers to reserve for tier 2 friends may have caught a few people out. It may also explain why the game showed as sold out during the tier 1 window. Sounds like the club made these seats available to all tier 2 by clearing baskets before 9 am today. It is an issue highlighted earlier in this thread which shows the club do listen to issues raised on here.

Thanks [MENTION=6886]Bozza[/MENTION] so if i am reading that right it was a combination of large uptake and some people sitting on tickets . I thought that baskets cleared automatically if no activity for 1/2 hour so is it possibly the case that some tech minded person has worked out a way of beating that system , if so it might explain why i saw last night the on sale amount going up as well as down . Otherwise it would mean someone having to sit up all night constantly putting a ticket or tickets plural in their basket wouldn't it ?
