The ticket office is only open in the morning at my local station, but there is a ticket machine. This particular day, it wasn't working, so no problem, we can pay on the train. There wasn't a guard on the train, so when we arrived at Brighton we went straight to the barrier and offered to pay.
We were threatened with a fine, and despite telling them, there was no way to pay beforehand, we were treated quite nastily. In the end, we bought the tickets, and not fined.
It's all very well planning when things work out.

Back to BHA, yes it is easy to relist your match tickets.

Happened absolutely dozens of times to me commuting (I didn't have an annual ticket and relied on weekly or daily tickets due to travelling elsewhere) as the local ticket office didn't open until 6am at best and the machines were often out of order. Never, ever had an issue paying on the train or on arrival in London.

I have been half expecting this, especially in 1901 where the club could use the tickets and sell hospitality.

4 games is a complete piss take though, especially as Hamilton has said - the club/Sky/Bt Sports/strikes bugger the schedule around on far more than four games. You should be committing to 3pm on Saturday when you buy a season ticket, not any time or date the club chooses to change the game to.

Maybe if the club didn’t make charges for passing the ticket on it would be OK, something that is a bonus of sorts in 1901 because there is no charge.

If you can’t go, list it. That’s all it says. What’s unreasonable about that? Have you read too quickly?

Doesn't sound completely unreasonable to me, if the criteria is listing your ticket for re-sale if you can't use it, with no penalty for it not selling.

It's a 30-second process and can be done very close to kick-off if something comes up late.

Agreed. Not sure we have the interest now with season ticket waiting lists to make ot worth us doing though.

Thanks. Certainly looks like one of those things that people think will take an age but actually is very straightforward. A bit like booking a slot online at the tip!

Oh come on, it's MUCH easier to post on here, ranting about what a ballache it is, how the club are fleecing 'customers' etc etc than to read a simple couple of lines of easily found and followed instructions and click your mouse a few times

Someone very close to my seat struggles to make any match that isn't 3pm on Saturday. Never relists or transfers his ticket. I asked him about it once and he said he can't be bothered as it is too much fuss. Obviously has more money than sense.

And these are the people being selfish, hence the actions like Brentford’s. To be applauded. There are hundreds like ‘em at the Albion, maybe thousands. Annoying if you can’t afford a ST or for similar reasons have to pick and choose.

Disagree - bin off STHs that don't come or can't be arsed to list their seats for resale so they end up empty. If there's no STH waitlist it doesn't really matter - seats can be sold on general sale as virtually every game is selling out.

Every game category C is selling out and the big 6. I’d be inclined to agree with you IF the prices were lower. Cat C for all games bar the big 6 would work imo.

I know someone who sat near us who had an ST and didn't go once all season. Guess he kept hold of it "just in case", and was too rich to re-list or give it up. It was a crying shame, and a little greedy really. As said by others, re-listing is a very, very easy process .

The seat next to me is empty every game. It never comes up for resale.

I’m torn between enjoying the extra leg room and being able to shift folk around if the need arises versus the annoyance that if it was on sale I could occasionally buy it for my daughter or one of my lad’s mates

This……several times I’ve wanted to get guest tickets, but our block (and row) is almost always sold out. On matchday though there are almost always empty seats, often the same ones.

Can you buy a ticket elsewhere and then they could sit next to you? Don’t know if it is feasible. Sod’s law says the first time you try it someone will turn up and use it!

I'm not sure how it would do that. He goes to Brentford one week and Chelsea the next. So, under this specific rule, he's not one of the 'problematic' fans.

Being a pedant, I've checked to see how often the 2 clubs home match kick offs clash.

The answer is 4 times a season, 22% of all home games, so there is a possibility that more affluent Chelsea fans, other than Andy Jacobs, are doing the same.

Interesting that Brentford put out this statement the week after the 2 clubs both kicked off at home at 3pm on the prior Saturday.
