Seems clubs are pushing for a longer postponement of fixtures...

"Premier League chiefs have been informed that with rising case numbers being fuelled by the omicron variant, there would be support for suspending games until the weekend of 8-9 January, when FA Cup third-round ties are due to take place," they write.

"Under the proposal, Premier League games would restart on 15 January.

"Officially, the Premier League is still considering postponements on a case-by-case basis. The Premier League did not immediately respond to a request for comment when asked about plans for a shutdown by ESPN."

They said last night Watford did stay overnight and returned positive tests before the game

I hadn't seen that but it seemed the most logical explanation. It's certainly a big risk for anyone travelling to away games at the moment, obviously a lot of us will have already booked up rail travel well in advance so there is little that can be done. I've seen Watford are refunding all match tickets to all ticket holders as well travel costs for anyone who traveled on the club coaches.

This would really help us considering our current injuries, so it's never going to happen.

I imagine they could easily claw back a couple of midweeks but changing the FA Cup and getting rid of replays for the 3rd and 4th rounds rather than not having them from the 5th round onwards. It gets a bit more complicated considering the League Cup QF are next Tuesday and Wednesday and the first leg of the Semi Finals are due on the 4th/5th of January but this really does sound like a sensible solution.

Would that mean Bissouma would miss the cup game or Palace (again)?

He'll miss out next league game, whenever that is. Suspensions for yellow cards picked up in PL games do not carry across to cup competitions. The FA Cup and League Cup have their own separate process for bans for multiple bookings. It's only suspensions for sending offs that carry across all competitions.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens on Boxing Day. That is Amazon Primes 'big' spending round of games and I presume given all the boxing day sales etc, the advertising they will have in place for it will be £££££££.

I reckon a hefty rebate will be due if no games happen and they're rescheduled for a random week night in February

The boxing day game is on Sky Sports. Amazon have the midweek games between Xmas and New Year which includes our visit to Chelsea.

It's on Sky not Amazon.

Not to worry. It'll be replaced by esports with representatives of each club taking part in place of the fixture.

I'm taking on Jessica Pincott from Brentford at Guitar Hero.

Money talks but the correct decision would be shutting down until 8th Jan when we may be over the peak and then returning behind close doors until infections are well below current levels and we can be confident the NHS is able to cope with covid.
