I think Mwepu just needs a bit of time to adjust to the Premier League. He does look a bit like a fish out of water at present but his through ball to Moder at Cardiff shows he has quality. Some time adapting to the pace of the league and the physicality will help and while we still have Biss we can afford to give him time.

I think biss took a good season to adapt mwepu might well take that long too but if he can adjust and we need to sell biss he looks the most likely to fill the position

Its reported that Albion make a healthy profit out of that deal if it goes ahead.
And presumably Ashworth, Potter, Weir decided they'd seen enough of Karbownik in training and the several games he played and sanctioned it.
Why is that ridiculous ?

Interesting - what is it that you've heard?

It's funny that now he's gone, he appears to be back to being a left back again!

I think around £200m of that is infrastructure costs, ground and training ground. I think the plan is to try and become self sustaining by identifying youth potential (globally) and feeding them into the team, selling the odd one or two every season (Ben White this year).

Ok thanks

The reporting on this is not that detailed but via Naylor/Owen there is a loan to buy deal, and its profitable for the club.
As for reasons for the loan/sale then i',m speculating . presumably club unlikely to have sanctioned this unless- 12 months in - they are now less bullish about his prospects than when he was originally signed, and his pathway to the first team looks a lot harder given Cucurella. Perhaps the success of Alex Cochrane at Hearts is also a factor here.

or they just make decisions at random and don't know what they're doing !!

Just as likely that he’s not settled here at all

Fair comments. I've just read the article in Sussex Live which pretty much endorses this - whether they'v got information, or whether they've just made the same reasonable deductions as you, we'll never know!

Hearts fans very pleased with Cochrane as a defender, but don't regard him as much of an attacking threat - perhaps that could give us more of an option to play a flat back four at times next season - frees up another place for one of our (many, many) midfielders - or even an out and out winger.

Gives scope as you say to a back 4 with the potential to push cucurella further up the pitch if needed

We just saw the difference between a side that has played together in the Prem for two + years under Potter against a side that has come up this season. They haven't lost in 15 games - the Prem is just damn hard.

What are they saying now. Not gloating they played well, but don’t get ahead of yourselves.

Seem quite humble and accepting that it was an even game and an moment of class was the difference.

A few commented on how we were the fitter team, not sure if reference to the Moder article or the game itself.

Given the energy they put into pressing it seemed pretty obvious to me from 5 mins in, that as long as we didn’t concede, we’d have too much for them over 95 mins

Most of the comments on the Grapevine seem quite realistic and an honest appraisal of the match. It's actually quite refreshing.

I had a wee look on their forum and the fans are very honest and philosophical. A lot of comments along the lines of ‘that’s the premier league for you’. Also quite a few of them felt we were the only side likely to win it the last 20 minutes which I hadn’t really picked up from the match thread.

The worry for them from here is that they could get dejected as a team, put a lot of effort into todays game and got nothing, and the coming fixtures are tough, a few games of being on the losing side is hard to turn around.

I think that’s exactly what will happen. They cannot press like they tried to today all season and if they do they’ll start to get picked off by teams with pace and the heads will drop and the fans support will turn to groans

Stick my neck out and say they’ll do well to stay up but they may just scrape it. They will be in a relegation battle

We quite possibly won’t but you never know, a few bad results and the pressure becomes immense

I stayed off the match thread today but I was more and more confident we would win the longer the game went on.

To me that was a classic game between a good, experienced Premier League team and a newbie.
