Quality wise Celtic are on par with a league one team playing in a Sunday league. Don't fall for the hype.

Remind me, what team was Beram Kayal struggling to get into before signing for Brighton? Celtic do have a few quality players in their team that would be ideal for the Championship.

Can't fail there, can he?

The only possible threat to them is a newly revived Rangers, but unless they suddenly become title contenders in their first season back in the MTL Premier, then managing Celtic is easier than a three piece jigsaw.

Unless your name is John Barnes.

Kayal was almost permenantly injured whilst at Celtic.

He had some horrendous luck, which fortunately hasn't been repeated with us.

Can we please differentiate between 'they're a huge club from a supporters perspective and have massive global following'

From:

The quality of football and the Scottish league in general is utter turd.

The two statements independently are factually correct.

Mixing the two causes confusion

Celtic and Rangers are where players go who are reasonably capable (but not great) in the Championship, who can't make the step up to the Premier League in England.

Kris Commons is a prime example. Wouldn't have made it in the PL, so zipped up to the MTL for a fat wage, an easy life, and hero status for his vital role in helping Celtic thrash the likes of Partick Thistle and St Johnstone every week.

Nothing lasts forever and it's surely only a matter of several decades before fans of teams like Partick or St Johnstone will be rolling out chants of "7-0 and you f**ked it up, 7-0 and you..." in such matches.

Celtic would be in the top 5 world wide for overall fans around the planet. They have 23 fan clubs in the US alone.
If you take shirt sales as a reasonable analogue for worldwide fan numbers then they are not even top ten:

2015/16 Shirt sales
FC Barcelona 3,637,000
Bayern Munich 3,312,000
Chelsea 3,102,000
Man United 2,977,000
Real Madrid 2,866,000
PSG 2,212,000
Arsenal 2,055,000
Atletico Madrid 1,977,000
Juventus 1,678,000
AC Milan 1,287,000

Even Tottenham have more than 50 US supporters clubs.

same here - offensive and adds no value to the debate. This should be removed.

Back to the debate - can't see Man City on the top 10 either so they must be a small club as well.

Essentially there are a number of perspectives to be considered - history, fan club size, revenue stream and current form. Currently the last two are not working in favour of scottish clubs but that does not mean these clubs will not come back.

Regards 'skill' our best player last year was released by Celtic.
