I hope neither of these stories are true.

This may sound weird but we don't really need £400k. If we really did need that for a player then Bloom would get it, I don't think we'd have to sell to get it. Coxy isn't worth £400k IMO so it would be a good sale if we needed the cash but I don't think we do.

As far as Wisey is concerned I've always liked him but I reckon it's much too soon to be getting rid of Slade.

In a pile of football shirts
Cockerill is often at our games.

I spoke with a Leeds scout at the game on Saturday, he told me he was looking at Stockport players, and partly because Leeds play Stockport soon.
He did tell me his name but I forgot it, he was a Luton player back in the 60s, and is good friends with Steve Burtenshaw, now works for Leeds amongst others, also works with Ian Dowies brother quite a bit.

With Wilkins there you wouldn't think they'd need to waste their time scouting Cox anyway.

:hopefully:

Im almost certain that Glenn Cockerill is one of our scouts...

....and with the fact that the Cox to Southampton story has been around all week and the Dennis Wise story has been mentioned on countless threads over the last week (and indeed months) then this makes this an absolutely pointless thread!

Why do we have to have so many repetitive threads on the same old subjects?:censored:

Breaking news my a**e

2) After the death of Sir Bobby Robson, The Sun's Bob Harris wrote how Robson told him: "My biggest disappointment was Dennis Wise, a director of football who was hardly seen at the ground, and who brought in players who were neither suitable, nor right, for Newcastle United. I forgive most people, but I am not sure I can forgive Wise for what he did to my club.”

Tony Bloom, please make a note of this ???

IF the cox rumour is true, would be a great price and a good bit of business, providing we had someone else we could bring in to fill his boots on the wing. For 400k, if we could get someone in before closing of the transfer window im sure we could get a far more consistent winger than Dean cox!

Glenn Cockerill was at Southampton for 8 years so could be a go between if Saints need an up to date profile on Dean Cox. £400k is not to be sniffed at and turned down. Wise is waiting in the wings just as Adams was when DW was in charge.

One more hammering on fri night and Slade position, has got to be in major doubt.Say we get done by three clear, then where does he go from there and what does he say to TB.....Needs more time to gel/it will turn round???You cant keep singing from the same songsheet, we MUST see improvement, a draw may see RS hang on and start to turn things round, with a nice home game after that, but if we get done bad, you got to fear the worst!!

what i find a dash worrying is it seems that all our supposed shyte players have found new clubs and are either scoring or playing blinders for thier new clubs, now that is down to the manager to get the best he can out of each and every player,i mean ffs even nathan elders scoring,£400 grand for Deano if true is a tidy some of money for a club like ours but i would rather see slade get the best out of him here rather than he go elsewhere and start scoring for fun,i think he has a lot to offer in this league and it would be daft to unload him when he has the potential to be a really fine player... imo

Dean Wilkins knows how to get the best out of Cox (and yes, i know they clashed at times). It would be a good move for the player but we would really miss him. He has a part to play in so many of goals it's unreal. He'll be the new Dean Hammond - we won;t know what we've lost till it's gone.

Isnt Glenn Cockerill OUR scout?

Last time i saw Glen Cockerill i was a student working at Leyton Orient he always reminded me of a cross between Paul Nicholas (Just good friends) that crap tv comedy from the 80's and David Essex h ha ha !!!

Have to say I think that the Cox story is a load of Bollocks.
& why would he want to move to another league one club?

I've never known a scout reveal who they're watching to anyone, particularly to a fan of the home side in the ground. It's usually like trying to get blood out of a stone. Also the Dennis Wise stuff is garbage. Yes, he was at the Brentford game with Dave Bassett - but he comes from West London and his family home is a stone's throw from Griffin Park. A Mirror journo with column inches to fill obviously spotted this, put two and two together and came up with about 702.

See you all at Millwall...
