Always hated the look and smell of the stuff growing up, but my old man loved it.

Im rather partial to it every now and again these days though. I've officially turned into my dad.

Love it but Mrs V won't let me have it in the house.

For me it has to be Branston Small chunk variety. I can cope with large chunk but the totally smooth one doesn't taste quite right. Glorious with a really strong Cheddar. Most of the alternatives are not up to and verge on being more chutney like ( sultana overdose ).

I might add that I actually prefer Branston baked beans over Heinz

Newmarket.
My Branston. Sometimes goes by Mr Pickles.
My favourite Branston. Small chunk pickle is second best.

I’m loyal to Branston Pickle. Dad reared us on it! It’s comparatively quite high in salt mind. Beans and the pickle are made / owned by entirely different businesses though.

The most curious thing..
I make my own chutneys so can't really comment.

Branston is good, but is it that much better than the rest to justify the price differential?

I have had all the pickles, and made my own. Branston is the absolute best.

I'm currently preferring my Cheddar sans pickle.

Any suggestions for other Branston pickle uses (in food, before any clever wag suggests tarring the roof etc)?

Only so much mature cheddar a man can eat
