Bradford City's crowds.....?

I think we probaly could survive, Bradford worked it out so they would only do the offer if they got a certain amount of people to sign up, therefore getting the same season-ticket revenue as they would usually. On top of that they get the added concesions, and a far better long term fan base, which clubs often disregard.

And I'm sorry but £25 IS expensive, if it's not to you then it is to a lot of people. Especially paying that every other week. It wasn't long ago that a ticket at the same level would have been about a fiver. Inflation has gone up nowhere near that fast.

Season tickets started at £138 (until the start of the season) and the club needed 10,000 to make it work financially. They have over 12000 sth, average gates around 13500 and last year they're average gate was abnout 8500.

The interesting thing is it's had a knock-on effect. The 'other' Bradford club, former league side Bradford (Park Avenue) play in Unibond 1. When City annouced their £70 season ticket offer they announced they were dropping their standard per-match admission from £7.50 to £5.00. In addition they've produced 20,000 free tickets for distribution to schools etc.

It should be noted that they (Avenue) have got a new backer, a builder called Bob Blackburn, who is putting money into the club and thus they can afford these gestures.

So what would your financial model/assumptions be to get something like this to work at the Albion then based on our current average league gate of 6182?

The Bradford thing was a great bit of marketing.

They announced at the end of last season that if 10,000 people pledged to buy season tickets by a certain date (presumably July or something like that), they would set prices at a level that would work out at £6 per game.

I don't think they quite reached the target initially, but had more than enough take up to make the scheme workable.

Good luck to them, it's great to see a football club thinking on its feet for once. I'd bet you can't get into any decent Northern non-league clubs for six quid.

Oh I don't know, Im sure that six quid will get you and three mates into Elland Road and still have change for a slap up fish supper

Sorry I do not agree as in relative terms watching The Albion is not expensive.

It is at the minute with all these mid-week games! We'll have 5 games in the space of 15 days next month, also doing an England U21 game on 16th so i'm hoping we don't get Darlington away in the first round of the cup!!

When Grimsby played Rochdale on a Friday night just recently they reduced prices to £10 adults , £5 concessions and kids free with a paying adult. That put another 2,500 on their average attendance figure (Grimsby still lost)

Grimsby cut their ticket prices by about 40 per cent and added 64 per cent to their average home league crowd this season.

If we did the same, there would be mayhem. We only have the capacity to increase attendances by 49 per cent.

I'm assuming the Leeds turnout represents a capacity crowd and I've ignored it when calculating the average home league crowd so far this season.

2 things you do not need to go to the England U21s as you support BHA primarily, I hope and we will not draw Darliongton in the 1st round of the cup guaranteed as it is divided north and south, I think. If it isnt it must be very coincidental that no extreme northern league sides ever draw extreme southern league sides.
