BP Shares....

At £4 per share how much did you invest out of interest, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm still hoping my RBS will come good.

9K originally, sold out and made a small profit. Bought back in again when price dipped again to around the 3.35 mark with 6K and with the remaining 3K opted for BARC ( Barclays ) when they dipped.

IF 'Ding Dong!' timed it well, he could have made a c33% return in the last 2 weeks as BP surged from 300p to over 400p a share. That's not bad going at all but you need a fair amount of luck to have timed it like that. (And it is luck, not skill)

Currently sitting on circa £1,000 profit ( BP & Barclays ) Not bad in 2 weeks and for pushing a couple of buttons on a computer. So yes not bad.

Stop losses put in place should the SP's start to retrace. So my money is safe !!

Stop losses are all well and good until something happens out of trading hours. Say...

1. You have a stop loss on BP at £3.90, say, with the shares treading water around £4.00.

2. Something big and bad happens in the States after London trading has closed.

3. London trading opens the next day with the stock at £3.20.


...you'll never get your chance to bail at your chosen price. It's unlikely, especially with a company the size of BP, but you're still running a risk with most of the newsflow coming out of the States right now.

There was also a case in May this year i think where the Dow Jones dropped by 1000 points over a couple of seconds due to a computer error. Stop losses don't always protect you. Im sure there is an example of an actual stock doing the same.

Not sure if I believe it, but interesting

its interesting for the geology and paleontology. but the idea that Deepwater Horizon disaster is about to lead to a "cascading geological Apocalypse" is utter scarmongering bollocks. it seems to ignore there are dozens if not hundreds of other drilling operations in the area. this is only the disatser it is because a value thats supposed to stop the flow of oil is broken, otherwise the same oil gushing into the sea would be gushing into a tanker instead.

Now that the dust has settled and the static kill of the well is almost complete these shares are going to climb steadily. Not sold out and and now will hold for 500p and divis.


Not too late to buy in and make a profit boys and girls. Sill great value at 432


Any other oily investors out there ??.....if so take a look at MATD ( Petro Matad) these are going to fly in the next month or two with the Massive discovery of oil in Mongolia

More cash to be made (albeit at higher risk) company calles Asia Digital. Currently trading at about 0.3p. Have been up to 25p a couple of years ago and are on the up.

Good call - up to 0.97p- up 75% today alone. Higher risk is about right!!!
