I'm far more of a fan of Ince than JFC, because he brings something different to the mix, and he had a great debut season last time round. I agree that he's had a disappointing season this year, but then again so has JFC. Both of them need to move the ball quicker. For Ince that involves better control; for JFC that requires greater belief and vision.

That is as accurate a synopsis as you are likely to find. My thoughts entirely.

I love Djimi Traore, clearly not because he is an amazing talented player but because he has won more things than Alan Shearer.

The thing is, he wasn't just a sub he actually started lots of games including THAT champions league final.

Imagine how good a manager Houllier must have been. He WON stuff with Traore in the team, it's like starting every game a goal down.

He did very very well considering his clearly limited ability. He was like some kind of superhero in that Champions League final, thoroughly deserved his winners medal.

Potentially our best holding midfielder but he's been utter horseshit this season. But he's a golden boy so no one picks up on it whilst JFC gets slated.

Ince ISN'T a holding midfielder. He possesses NONE of the top attributes needed for a DM.

We don't need anyone else, that will just confuse everyone even more. We have the players but need to play a steady side instead of chopping and changing 5 players every week. If players have a good game like at Bournmouth then he drops them but if people have poor games like JFC and Gardner then they're still in the starting eleven.

For whatever reason Toko, Holla, McCourt and Tex aren't getting games. With Stephens and Crofts out we are desperate short of good central midfielders. We could do with 2 really.

Agreed, add to that Kemy...

Hes not a holding midfileder but JFC is still our best at it and has made a decent fist of it in my opinion.

Quick. Wins headers. Average tackling. Good distribution. Error prone. There are certainly worse positions for him to play, but might also be better in center mid. If he develops good position and reading of the game he'd be a find CDM

His touch though is just not up to par for the role, DM/Holding midfielder is all about someone who you can trust on the ball in tight areas and play the simple 10 yard pass, its why JFC is picked there week after week, he performs the role that is asked of him by the manager, although I prefer him further forward its a role he is having to perform as no one else is trustworthy enough to perform it.

I think he needs to be alongside a Bridcutt type mopping up behind him, he needs to be someone to take the ball forward and cause the opposition problems with his INSANE LEGS.

His positional discipline, reading of the game, composure and passing are all poor. These are all things that need to be good to be a DM. Also I'm sorry but for his height, his heading is utterly atrocious. When he does win a header it never seems to be aimed in any direction at all.

i am sorry - but are you suggesting Bridcutt took the ball forward? or that he should take the ball forward alongside a DM like Bridcutt?

ince is a box to box midfielder in my mind. When he came onto the scene he was causing absolute havoc with his ridiculous solo runs. His form has suffered from being played as a holding midfielder

The latter. Someone like Bridcutt needs to sit just behind Rohan, mop up behind him and then give him the ball to RAMPAGE forwards. I like Ince but he is a LUNATIC and the last person I want to sit as the last line before defence. It doesn't suit him at all.

Amazing when you think we all felt we had an abundance of midfielders with Toko, Holla, Ince, JFK, Ince, March, Stephens, Gardener, Agustein, a couple of months ago.

The question is why? They're never given the chance so we'll never know. Felt sorry for Tex at Derby and his confidence must be shot to pieces now. Damaged goods and needs to be sent back now. How about Toko?, Never been given the chance so we'll never know if can cut it in the championship, never know, he could be mustard. Watching clips of him in Switzerland then he looked good.

Does Sami have favorites like JFC who is undroppable whether they play poorly or not.
