BoJo is right wing yes, he is not facist, do you actually have the balls to make that accusation? It is frankly comical how the lefties are getting in a tizz about the new PM, he is no further right than Thatcher and nobody called her a facist. Seems to me the naive imbeciles that thought JC would be the second coming for hard socialism are realising that he is having no effect whatsoever despite the mess that is British politics right now. They are watching their hope disappear over the horizon as the extreme left Momentum have alienated a huge part of the electorate that they need to get a new Labour government. Boris may well cock things up, probably will, but when the next general election comes JC sure as hell will not get a majority.

I do

The guy is a racist, misogynistic, homophobe. He’s on record denigrating just about every minority in our society. He is an authoritarian who is seeking to crush dissent and opposition, using a tame right ring press for his propaganda. He’s a fascist, by all manner of definitions

Nobody called Thatcher a ‘facist’? Really? Hahahahahahahahahahahha

What a bell end

Fascists are against democracy. Boris wants to prorogue Parliament to stop democratically elected members of it from democratically exercising their right to vote.

Fascists have a belief in natural social hierarchy and the rule of elites. Boris is where he is precisely because of this and his adherence to these beliefs.

Difficult to deny that he has has fascistic tendencies - even if he is not extreme compared to those in the past who have been described with this term.

This is what will happen. Johnson will agree to the original withdrawal deal that created a border in the Irish Sea, allowing trade between NI and the Republic.

The DUP and ERG will reject it, government loses a vote of confidence as No Deal looms.

Johnson calls a GE on the back of his deal and gets an increased majority as Brexit Party voters return & Labour still arguing with itself.

Johnson then gets new Parliament to ratify deal and we all live happily ever after, albeit a bit poorer.

More likely Johnson is out in a few weeks

I tend to be very reluctant to use the word fascist and certainly never used it to describe Thatcher who I strongly proposed. However I am seeing things in Johnson’s approach that fit the label. He has endeavoured to split the UK into moaners/pessimists and believers. This is a very clear ‘us and them’ divisive step and he is inviting people to join him as a believer. However no attempt is made to present any firm reasons why people should believe just extremely vague appeals to nativism, some almost mystical national character and his qualities as a leader. This will be backed up by some headline-inducing schemes, vanity projects but policy on key day-to-day issues will remain vague. It will always be about blind faith and belief in his powers as a leader. This to me is much closer to fascism than I have ever seen in this country in my lifetime.

If this thread is anything to go by, I'd have to conclude that on balance there is more chance of me and Beyonce having sex in the disabled toilets at Yates tonight than of him uniting the country as he said he would.

7 years ago today it was the opening ceremony of The London Olympics. Look at this country now. :nono:

you may want to look at the members of the cabinet before throwing racist around, and he certainly isnt facist by any measure or definition. Boris is a liberal/libertarian, most the cabinet seem economic liberals with varying degrees of social conservatism. that isnt facism. people keep pointing to Britannia Unchained as the template for this government, with message of individualism, deregulation and small state, then some claim they are fascist. cant be both, its just a throw away insult that bears no relation to the meaning.

I'd give up if I were you ...

The wise thing to do would be to accept that the term fascist is beyond repair. It’s a dead word. It now means *******. It’s an emotional insult, expressing a sense of powerlessness on the part of the person making it, whose belief that he faces a fascist threat grows in direct proportion to his own inability to make sense of political developments. The insult of ‘fascist’ speaks far more to the insulter’s own sensation of impotence than it does to the insulted’s actual power, or ideology, or ambition.

your talking about the focus on a leader, thats populist or fat egoist, its not fascist. there more that ideology including authoritian, protectionism, state control of economy. right now he's promising a lot to a lot of different groups (populist), i dont see any of those fascist policies evident. point noted on suspending parliament, that would definatly be a massively negative mark against him.

I do not agree with your political stance JCFG but i think calling Boris a Facist is a step to far.I also, in my opinion, think calling Jeremy Corbyn anti-Semitic is also too extreme. I do not like the name calling and false accusations that politics seem to be throwing up these days.
If I don't like Boris I am a left wing snowflake and communist sympathiser. I am neither and I feel politics is going to the extreme. Today, you are either extreme left or extreme right but the truth is more people are in the centre of politics than is the modern perception.
If the name calling and accusations do not cease from snowballing it will turn a lot of voters away from politics leaving the true extremists to fight a very hollow battle.
