What an unpleasant post. Some things are better left unsaid. I won't be clapping him either, (us old boys don't go in for public displays of emotion) and as a lifetime agnostic I don't say prayers. But we need a leader and he's exactly that. So in the end there's only hope for his recovery...

If you see, for example, Corbyn say on tv that he wishes Johnson a speedy recovery then you don't need him to say that he doesn't agree with Johnson's politics. On an anonymous forum, you don't necessarily have a clue of the politics of a particular poster.

What the **** makes it even remotely an 'uncomfortable truth'? Bizarre!

What impact do you think not clapping for the NHS would have?

It could mean that a nurse, a doctor, a porter, a carer, an ambulance driver (insert many other important NHS jobs here) doesn't get the lift that they need to carry on with the vital but mentally and physically challenging task of saving lives.

My wife didn't get to hear the first display of clapping but she did get home in time last week and was quite moved by it. Their having a shit time of it at the moment with still not enough PPE and having to treat their own colleagues on the ward!!

I imagine it gave her a little bit of strength, knowing that people are appreciative of her bravery and commitment and trying to do their bit by isolating at home. I bet you're very proud of her. Stay safe both of you.

Reverse the question. Clapping the NHS workers means the appreciation can be heard by those workers. There’s a nurse, a paramedic and an IT NHS worker in my road.
Clapping Boris on the south coast isn’t going to carry all the way to London.

Not really. Quite important to know who is in command and how decisions are made. Raab said tonight that, as before, decisions are made collectively by the cabinet but then contradicted that by saying they were following Johnson's instructions!

I think it's important too, it just seems to me like drama is being looked for and it's being turned into a soap opera or something. Maybe just me though.

Don't stop watching or listening. Make a time when you'll watch or listen to the news for fifteen minutes or an hour or whatever. There's no need to be bombarded for 24 hours a day, FFS, that's boring! Do what you like to do in the meantime but it's important to have a bit of a handle on what's going on, don't you think?
