That two and half years has flown by. 🙈

Now getting deported back to the Fatherland*

Surely for a crime of this level, he would have been better doing extensive and high profile community service rather than being locked up at more cost to the taxpayer?

*Genuine question, does every newly released foreign prisoner immediately get deported?

Becker is thought to qualify for automatic deportation as he received a sentence of 12 months of more and is not thought to have British citizenship.

I'm not au fait with the usual sentence for such crimes but feel that it would have been better for him to do work in the community rather than sitting in a cell at a tough prison.

Have no great sympathy with Becker - he is someone whose greatest weaknesses are his arrogance and his poor choices in his private life. Deporting him just seems like a bit of a muscle flex from the UK.

He’s lived in the U.K. for 10 years or so, served his sentence, isn’t a harm to anyone, seems a bit spiteful to sling him out.

Yet another signing that didn't work out. Did he even play for the first team?

(Oh come on, someone had to say it. That thread title was an open goal).

Has he served his time.....? If he upsets the judge he could be in for a cross court return.

2.5 year sentence and barely served 8 months. Not his first offence either as he got a suspended 3 year sentence in Germany in 2002 for tax evasion. Think he got off quite lightly really.

I didn’t realise he got Wimbl-done for tax evasion in Germany as well

Sounds like a euphemism… and on that note, I’m off to release a Boris Becker.

Always makes me smile when somebody says they are a survivor - everybody alive in the world today is a survivor
