Gerrard doesnt normally get picked on because he shows he is putting effort in, but normally he is terrible for England. Lampard does neither, so the fans dont show him the lovin

As for Rooney, he always runs his nuts off doing jobs he shouldnt so he remains a fans favourite, and he can turn a game on its head with something spectacular.

As for Fat Frank, it just rolls off the tounge easily and its an insult easy to say I guess

Rooney really isn't that good for England.

As for being passionate, I don't think Ferdinand or Ashley Cole really care that much.

Agree with both points, I think the difference with Rooney is he got himself legendary status with the fans as did Beckham, thats why when they have bad performances they arent as vilified as say Lampard who hasnt done anything for England ever.

At the end of the day, if you run your guts out when you're playing for your country and don't score a single goal.. people won't boo you off. When you get paid £150,000 (I know.. I know, "that's irrelivant" you'll say).. But when you demand that much cash just to play football, you should give it all you've got, and even more when you're in an England shirt. Lampard doesn't do that. And what's worse is that he doesn't seem to give a shit.

That's why it pisses me off.... And I've never seen him sing a word of the national anthem..wanker

I take your point, but I will never justify booing a player.

Even Beckham gets a hard time sometimes. I personally thought he was one of the best players at the World Cup (not hard I know) and has continued to be one of the best players since then (in my opinion) but people still say he's not that good. Out of all of them I'd say Beckham is the most passionate.

rooney's main problem is that he (rightly) wants a lot of the play to go through him, at united if he picks the ball up deep or wide, there will be bodies in the box, this just doesn't happen at england as the likes of lampard and gerrard don't seem to want to push on. Barry is an effective holding midfielder, so theres no reason why we shouldn;t be getting bodies in the box

basically, rooney is a playmaker without anyone to make play for

Players that don't sing the national anthem pisses me off too, Rooney never sings it.

Wasn't there something in the paper that Rooney didn't even KNOW the words to the national anthem?:dunce:

to be honest , of ALL the things that piss me off about the England squad at the moment - the non singing of our anthem is the least worrying , if anything it shows some of the players are scared/focused on the game to be too worried about all the formalities before it.

Whilst on the subject of Rooney, when fit at present you have to pick Owen, as he is the only striker how has some idea that the ball is meant to go in the oppositions big net thingey. However Owen and Rooney have never really clicked. Owen and Heskey seem to work, although Heskey's goal scoring record in international football is shocking. So pressuming you go with a partnership that vaguely works in Owen and Heskey, where do you play Rooney?

definitely agree with that , for me you need a goalscorer and someone willing to get the ball down and put it through

Owen & Heskey - work , although neither are at their best at the moment
Rooney & Heskey - somehow don't
Rooney & Crouch - work , to an extent
Owen & Crouch - possible?

also Defoe a possibility with either Crouch or Heskey?

I do not think Defoe is up to it. He has had enough chances now and failed to deliver on a regular basis.

Time to either give the lad from Villa a go, or look at using Walcott through the middle.

I do agree with you, but read somewhere recently that it's more respectful to remain silent?

Could be cobblers though...

Oh really?

Even if that is true, I very much doubt that's the reason Wayne Rooney remains silent.
