Not sure what your taste in literature is but I read the time travellers wife on my last trip, was an excellent book, definitely one that is hard to put down.

Excellent book, I've re-read it a few times now.

It's well worth another read as the film is due out this summer.

Less Than Zero by Brett Easton Ellis.
Lovely story set in LA featuring lots of booze, lots of cocaine, stuck-up yanks and Betamax's.
What more do you need in a book.

I've only recently read The Damned United, but enjoyed that. Am now reading (on the same topic) Provided You Don't Kiss Me- 20 Years With Brian Clough, by Duncan Hamilton. Seems a pretty good read so far.

Plus 'War With the Flowers' or 'Shadowmarch' by Tad Williams and 'Freakonomics' by Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt.

pointless - a season with britain's worst football team is a good read, east stirlingshire, going into the last game of the season they had a whole 5 points, can't get relegated because there was no where for them to go. it's a cracking book - behind the scenes in the board room, dressing room as well as from the terraces.

back from the brink, by paul mcgrath - is one of the best sports autobiography i have read. really recommend that one.

Agree with Shantaram and the Kite Runner.
Any Harlan Coben books if you like crime mysteries.
Mark Gimenez is good if you are fed up with Grisham.
Short History of Nearly Everything or Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson
Some of Clarkson's rants are quite good if you like that sort of thing.
The other half has been raving about Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Ken Follett.

Marianne Faithful's book is an interesting read, from someone on the inside of the Rolling Stones in the 60's (and come to think of it, three of them were on the inside of her...ahem!).
Porterhouse Blue by Tom Sharpe is pretty funny.

I just finished The Final Solution by Michael Chabon.
A very-old Sherlock Holmes keeps bees and comes out fo retirement to try and find a mute Jewish boys missing parrot who keeps on reciting German numbers. It's well good
