Defensively last night Bong was good, it was his poor passing that marred his performance. The telepathy he has with Lua Lua doesn't seem to be there with Murphy but hopefully it will develop as the season progresses.

Always be wary of the post that starts "I might have had a few beers but.." And I might have but wasn't Bong involved in the build-up to the goal?

If so that was at least 1 completed pass. To be fair.

4th bad game in a row. Reading, Toon, Brentford now yesterday.

Sorry no passengers in this team if we are serious about going up. Off to the reserves until you can be the player we know you were.

In comes the canadian fella who played LB in the EFL or that WBA loanee That is why we signed them isnt it?

I thought Bong defended well yesterday. He kept pace with his man pretty much all game and allowed very little to get past him. However going forward his distribution, for whatever reason was poor. If Hughton is to keep faith with him, that at is something they need to work on.

Murphy stuck to the side line, which only gave Bong one option as Kayal didn't come over for passes either. The opposition knew where Bong was going to pass it so intercepted it.

Defensively he did well tonight, it was going forward where he had problems.
Phew, someone else watched the same game as me. He was certainly pretty awful at times going forward, he seems to have lost the touch he had, maybe its confidence. But he worked hard and was rarely caught out of position, and he never hid, always made himself available. Once everyone had decided he was crap though they only ever saw his mistakes. There were a lot of poor passes in the second half, he was often given very little option and put under pressure, but mistakes by others were forgiven, while his resulted in torrents of abuse.
He has proved he is decent player, but I just hope he can recover from whatever is causing him to play so poorly at the moment. We need the old Bong back.

Solid defensively, but terrible passes... unfortunately, those passes created more pressure on his team... he must be nearing the axe, surely?

It was. I've just been enjoying the goal again (and again) It was a very good pass by Bong.

Lack of pace and movement up front doesnt give him the outlet that he had with kll. He is constantky forced to check and thrn is pressured into a misplaced pass.
Yes, I do accept this, and at times he did not know where to put it, with so few options open to him. BUT on three occasions in the first half, right in front of the East Stand, he had all the time in the world to give a simple pass and mis-hit it. He is hopeless in the air, and every time a long ball is pumped up t the winger he is supposed to be marking, he jumps to no avail. You cannot become a poor player after his very impressive performances prior to his injury - confidence shattered, or just lost that pace and zest? But he was poor last night.

Everyone moaning about Bong who obviously needs a few games to get his confidence back, what the moaners haven't noticed is the fact we haven't conceded a goal this season down the left side if anything Bruno should be getting stick.

There will not be and should not be a replacement for Bong against Burton.

There absolutely SHOULD be a replacement put in for Burton.

CH/PB/TB all make regular comments about the depth of the side and the need for players to compete with each other for a place in the squad.
GB is just NOT up to scratch at the moment (not helped by a very poor Murphy, who also should be sidelined).

What is the point of having depth in the squad when you still start players who just aren't playing up to the standard required?

He has lost the right to start in my opinion. Give someone else the start and let Bong prove he is deserving of the place in training, or not! But let's stop letting the weakest player in the squad make life difficult for everyone else.

I went from being angry and frustrated at bongs supreme display of ineptitude to feeling sorry at seeing him unravel before my eyes.the player that linked so well with lua lua at the start of last season seems a long way off.the one thing I would say in his defence is Murphy wasn't showing for him and several times checked his runs as bong attempted to play him down the channel.where is the fella from wba?we need him as,sadly, bong is not in any kind of form and hasn't been since he came back from injury

How has he lost the right to start? As has been pointed out, none of the goals conceded have come from down the left side, so defensively, he did well, last night and previously.

Going forward, he has a problem, but, he's not the only one, and as been pointed out, as well, he made the pass into the area which led to the winning goal.

Why would you drop him? Who for? An unknown LB who isn't match fit, and an injured development player?

I'm sure some of our fans only see the bad and not the good.

Did you miss the Reading game then?
