I don't deny Lewes bonfire raises money for charity, my point to the poster was that is was somewhat pathetic standing outside the Sussex Cricket ground and denying Brighton Lions some money just because you could see most of the display outside the ground. Somewhat cheapskate IMHO !

I have 4 kids and a wife so would cost us £40 to watch a few fireworks. Seems like a lot of dosh to me. How much is Nevil Rec?

You could save a fiver by buying a family ticket for £25 ( 2 adults and 2 children ) and then two extra child tickets. Neville was Saturday.

if it was free and they passed round collection buckets, i'd go and donate......£10 is a bit rich for my blood....each to their own

If you wander up to Lewes golf course you can watch all the fireworks for free, quite a sight. As a teenager I took a handfull of mushrooms beforehand....Vivid man!

I think you will find its the same chap they have chosen for the last 150 years or so, Guy Fawkes

I thought it was Lewes that had the celebrity effigy that they burnt every year. Maybe I'm wrong?

On the radio this morning, they claimed it was Bradley Wiggins (?????), Geri Halliwell (again, ????), Piers Morgan (understandable) and someone else who's name escapes me.

Any idea what poor old Bradley's done to offend the six-fingered townsfolk of Lewes?

Also, pats on the back being given out as they didn't kill/maim anywhere near the number of people they have in previous years. Well done!

That would make more sense, perhaps Neil Pringle is an idiot.

it's not always a figure of hatred that's burnt. I'm sure this is explained every year.

In London village.
Does anyone know who has been chosen for the Guy at Lewes this year? Cant find it anywhere.

The tab for Cliffe was Angela Merkel destroying the Acropolis and very good it was too.

Oh right, I'm sure R2 were talking about LA's effigy being burnt at Lewes though. Who knows!

Bearing in mind I won't be gracing Lewes with my presence anymore due to it's unwelcoming atmosphere and the society's inability to organise a piss up in a brewery plus they seem to be dicouraging visitors due to their inherant elistist twaddle can anyone recommend a good bonfire night to attend? I went to Shoreham one about ten yrs aback and it was great. That one still occur and is it any good still?

HASTINGS! Next year of course.
