I am probably like the average voter, I don't follow politics up to the minute and don't buy a newspaper. I find them terribly depressing and they seemed to have targets that they constantly attack, it seems a very odd place to be, but of course, the ladies and gentlemen that spread this hatred are not accountable themselves for anything. This to me just qualifies them as weak, perhaps they should put their head in the noose and become an mp?
I have voted labour most of my life, but I do find people that are likable, are just likable.
Boris falls into the category of very likable by many people I know if he earns a few quid and is in demand fair play to him and any others.
If I am to vote labour at the next election I need to see a different leader as Keir does not inspire me when I see him, I find him unusually bland.
Does anyone know of an up and coming leader in labour that could match or beat Rishi?
Yep.I think Starmer needs to start thinking about his Deputy. The Red Wall will come back to Labour anyway, so they don't need Angela Rayner who does not play out well with Middle England and has never lived down her "Tory Scum" quote. Wes Streeting, on the other hand, has the lot AND voters will see there is a proper future Labour leader in the waiting.
Valid points, I would of thought the Streeting chap sounds to conservative to most of us though.I think Starmer needs to start thinking about his Deputy. No. Corbyn was a toxic arsehole. I didn't rejoin the party till he was replaced by someone sensible and dull.My point is people don't buy from people they don't like. I am sure that is why Boris made such an impact against a less inspiring Jeremy. I think we have all had situations where a bit on the side can be more rewarding. The Hancock lad found that out.
Do we know that a person is underperforming if they have a 'side hustle'? My grandson has a very good job in a huge company yet he is knocking out wedding discos most nights of the week, can you stop passionate people from going for it?
The main thing is we get someone more passionate in place before the next election to be sure of a mass of red seats.
Like I have said I know very little about politics, but I do know we need to make sure this next general election or I may never see another labour government
But the papers have never been independent. I will ask in my street or down the local if people are quoting papers I tend not to listen. Real life Kev and Karen, tell me much more about the real world. Salt of the earth, you know the types?Have a read about what's going on in the country right now. You may learn something
The papers? It is possible to obtain informed comment from a variety of sauces. If they are not sufficiently independent for you or (more to the point) are pushing an agenda, you can soon learn to measure the provenance. If you are scoping out sources of insight, I'm not sure I'd recommend Kev and Karen down the pub. But each to his own.But the papers have never been independent. This is what worries me about UK politics. Starmer may seem awfully dull, but he has a history of competence in his previous positions. I’m not say he’s right 100% of the time and that I agree with everything he does. But I’d take competence in any form at present over the current incumbent and recent PM’s.The main thing is we get someone more passionate in place before the next election to be sure of a mass of red seats.
While he’s a serving MP, who can barely be bothered to turn up to Westminster on behalf of his constituents don’t you think it’s a bit wrong ? His attendance on votes is 33%Blair’s worth $60m, charging up to $500k a talk in the US.
Don’t care if it’s whataboutery, ex-PMs and chancellors often make a mint from this.
Why the outcry only when it’s the ‘wrong’ party?
He has attended 7 times since 21st July, what more can you expect!!So who is representing the needs and interests of the people of Uxbridge and Hillingdon while he’s swanning off around the world?
Starmer for two terms then Andy Burnham to take over.It will take Labour a minimum of 2 terms to undo the damage done by successive Tory governments. Starmer is the perfect antidote because be has a track record of good behaviour, moral compass and he commands respect. However, there will come a time when having fought fires and got the British ship on an even keel (Starmer's role) Labour will need a leader who can set out a vision, inspire and energise. That will need to come from a younger leader. It's horses for courses and Britain's immediate need is a person who the rest of the world will respect and trust, and that is Starmer.
It would have been much worse under Corbyn. Everybody knows that.No. Corbyn was a toxic arsehole. I didn't rejoin the party till he was replaced by someone sensible and dull.
As for charm and charisma, these are hallmarks of nice charming people. And also psychopaths. It can be hard to guess which they are initially. But you can (and should) judge them by their subsequent deeds. Johnson's deeds are well-documented.
For me, passion isn't what I'm going to use as my arbiter. I require someone to lead, not to shag.
So they voted for that useless, egotistical, incompetent, lying sack of s*** as their local MP and his Brexit cabal to form a Government for the next 5 years, and now they aren't happy with what they've done.
