Would expect a fair sprinkling of U18s for this as the U23s have a huge game v Everton U23s coming up next monday night .

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s will look to reach the final of the Sussex Senior Cup when they play Bognor Regis Town in the semi-finals at Culver Road this evening, kick-off 7.15pm.

Simon Rusk’s team have won the competition two seasons running, after beating Sky Bet League Two opponents Crawley Town on both occasions at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls have beaten Lewes, Hastings United and Eastbourne Town en route to the final four of the competition, but the Rocks will be looking to reach their first final since their 2014 defeat to Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Bognor also reached the final in 2013 but lost 4-0 against the Seagulls, adding to their five defeats in the final of the competition since their cup success back in 1987.

The Rocks progressed past Seaford Town, Three Bridges and East Grinstead Town to set up tonight’s semi-final against the Seagulls, and the winners will meet Burgess Hill Town in the final.

After tonight’s match at Culver Road, Rusk’s team will quickly turn their attention to Monday’s top-of-the-table clash against Everton at Goodison Park, where a huge step will be taken in the race for the Premier League 2 Division 1 title.

Tickets:

Albion supporters can pay on the gate at Culver Road this evening, with tickets priced at £10 for adults (17+), £5 for concessions (65+ and students with a value student ID card) and £3 for children (16 and under).

Andy Naylor with his finger on the pulse of local Sussex football - Albion try to reach the Sussex Senior Cup final again

Bognor have not reached the final since losing to Albion in 2013 and Peacehaven in 2014.

The five-times runners-up since lifting the trophy in 1987 reached the last four with wins against Seaford, Three Bridges and East Grinstead.

Ian Chapman's Burgess Hill await the winners in the final at the Amex next month.

1st-year scholar CB Ben Clark-Eden and U-16 midfielder Matt Everitt make their debuts at this level. Right-back Owen Moore captains the side. It is a very young line-up; only Moore and Tomlinson are older than scholar age. It will be a strange experience for Joe Tomlinson as he has spent the season on loan at Bognor.

Albion's goalkeeper tonight is Billy Collings, who makes his.......4th appearance of the season (2 of the other 3 appearances were also in the SSC, his lone other appearance being against Peterborough in the Checkatrade Trophy). He hasn't been injured because he has been the almost-permanent substitute goalkeeper for the U-23s (20 bench appearances).

It is difficult to understand why Albion ever took up the option on his contract in the summer. He is in his 3rd year as a professional (next season he will be too old to qualify as an U-21 player). He joined the Albion from Reading in January 2017 and signed an extension for 2017-18 (when he made only 3 appearances in PL2, and 7 appearances altogether).

Why give a contract to a goalkeeper for two years, and play him in what amounts to 4 "competitive" appearances at U-23 level in that time?

What am I missing?
