Really good to see some footballers trying to make a positive social difference.

I don't know enough about the complexities of housing to say if it'll work but let's hope so.

This 'Mark Nobel' bloke looks very like Mark Noble of West Ham. Are they related, by any chance? Or is the Grauniad simply living down to its reputation?

That seems like a thoroughly decent thing to be doing. Good for them and it's great to see another example of footballers not being the out of touch, obsessed with fame and money dicks they often get portrayed as.

I like the fact the paper call him Brighton's Bobby Zamora, even though, he also played for West Ham, and is a boyhood fan.

Are you now writing for the Guardian or has that West Ham player won a prize

HB & B won a prize, that's why he wrote the article. The proof reader went on holiday as soon as he found out.

Having read the article, it would appear that the project has yet to gain planning permission and will be half owned by the Bedfordshire Council, with 45-50% split between social housing and not specified in the article other housing (private). The footballers will be contributing in the future up to £300,000 a year for the running and management of the sports and community facility at the development, thats the contribution. Honourable of the three, but strange that three east London boys want to help people from Luton and not east London, where there is a dire need.
Good on them for sticking their neck out, but the headline is misleading as their contribution overall is limited.

Good of them to do something positive and being near Luton a lot of the rent will be paid via housing benefit so they are guaranteed a return rather than some of the hair brain schemes that many wealthy ex footballers get into.

Ps reading the post above perhaps tbey wont get much housing benefit.

When you're renting a house that's designed for a mouse... that's Zamora.

When you're affordable flat, is right round round the back ....that's Zamora.
