Bobby Zamora, would you want him back?

Zamora would surely replace COG, who it's hinted is on a high wage.

The real question is how many more thousand a week would Zamora cost than COG, and is it worth it.

I suspect that if it's looked at this way, the deal would make sense.

I don't give a crap about tarnished memories, he's exactly the sort of striker we need, and is still capable of scoring a lot of goals in the Championship. If he was affordable, I wouldn't even blink!

For me as much as a legend Bobby is, for a player with his injury record, I just think its a gamble not worth making, and think it will be more of a case of the board making a signing to keep the fans onside after a terrible season, much like IMO offering Calderon a new deal, then for the good of the side.

That said, he could stay injury free and play for the next few seasons, but I think with his record, it's more likely he will spend more time on the sidelines than playing.

Looking at it logically who would offer him high wages I would suggest he would be happy to get about £10k a week on a 1 or 2 year contract. I dont believe he will be offered much more by any club.except for one with a complete disregard for FFP like Forest or possibly QPR extend his contract. at a reduced wage.if they come down.

The lad has consistently over the years said how he has a soft spot for us, I think the two things we wouldn't need to worry about were wages and his passion for the side. The guy would drip passion and imo would be content with a reasonable wage like a lot of top flight footballers who want to continue their career down the leagues for a club they love or simply for 30 games a season instead of constant benchwarming.

Yes please. He is so much better than anything we have, even at his grand old (for a footballer) age. Forget all this 'tarnish the memory' b0ll0x.

I dont see it as that a big gamble as BZ would be good to have as an option even for half a season or a sub but get him as a striking coach as he has bags of experience and we need the help badly. He would still score goals at this lower level and also create lots of chances for others.
Most importantly though is that he has always said he would love to end his career with the Albion and its in his heart. So I think you would get 100% every time he put the shirt on as the club genuinely means something to him, I wish we could all say that about all who have worn the shirt this season....
Ryan Giggs played in the PL to 40 as his games were managed correctly.

We really struggled when we had old injury prone Matthew Upson. Seem to remember people saying he was to much of a risk when we got him, oh and past it Wayne Bridge. Both turned out to be total class and real assets playing more games than they missed but both had poor records with injuries.

This club desperately needs players the fans can connect with and who they can sing about. Obviously they need ability too, but we were outsung by Watford partly because none of the starting XI have a song - KLL, CMS and Calde were all on the bench. No player songs means less people sing generally and the atmosphere gets quieter.

Personally I'd make Bobby my first signing and look to bring one or two other favourites back too.

Not the player you want to be leading the line at 34. I wouldn't be happy unless he was just a back up player. Our team this year has really lacked pace and this wouldn't help the cause.
