But Bobby is ALWAYS injured. He is too much of a liability and a sicknote now.

Why would they build a team around Zamora?

quite. dont see why Zamora who came into the setup at 29 was ever anything other than a squad member. Defoe, long the obvious second choice striker just reinforced his own position. Zamora will get more chances when fit as Capello knows he can perform a role when needed that Defoe (and Rooney) cant offer.

I think Zamora will probably not be selected for England again , only as late cover for injuries as he is now labelled as a " sicknote " and too much of a liability.

A liability is someone who's likely to be sent off rather than score.

He'll be back in again once he's fit. We're hardly talking Darren Anderton here.

There's still a place for Zamora in the England squad & i expect to see him called up (if fit) for the qualifiers next month.
Not every game is going to be as much of a push over as Bulgaria & when you see the other contenders for the 'big man up top' position he's the best of an average lot really

US seems to have forgotten that Defoe managed to injure himself CELEBRATING, and we had nobody on the bench to bring on really...

The way the game is played these days frequent injuries are part and parcel of the game. Has not Rooney been looking to fully recover for a number of months ? Whilst he played well yesterday it was against Bulgaria and he did not score.

Bobby is one of a number of strikers who will remain in contention for a squad place with occasional appearances.

A bit too dramatic to call Zamora "sicknote" isn't it - he's had a couple of injuries in an otherwise fairly fit career. So he's playing with more strength in his game now he's a Prem player and of a 'target man' style that others play off - that's going to put him at more risk as well.

But Bobby is ALWAYS injured. He is too much of a liability and a sicknote now.

His stats would suggest otherwise
Career:
2004–2008 West Ham United = 130 games
2008– Fulham 65 games

Time on the pitch
Last season he played 2228 minutes for Fulham

Only the following played more:
M. Schwarzer = 3330 mins
A. Hughes = 3060 mins
B. Hangeland = 2807 mins
C. Baird = 2658 mins
D. Duff = 2542 mins
C. Dempsey = 2395 mins
P. Konchesky = 2366 mins

So his stats arn't bad for "someone thats always injured"

I think Zamora would have started last night but this latest injury has tried Capello's patience too much. In any case Zamora is too much of a liability now. You cannot base a plan and a team on a player who is so physically weak.

But I doubt they will now build the team around Defoe, just because he scored a hat-trick. The previous player to score one was Walcott and he didn't even make the World Cup squad.

IMO The England team will be built around a spine of Rooney, Gerrard, Terry & Hart and not the second striker whoever it is.

It was unfortunate that Zamora was injured for the match, but he will still be involved in the Euro qualifying campaign - injuries, suspensions, tactical substitutions, etc will mean he plays some part.

And yet Ledley King made the world cup squad.

England are never going to build around Bobby Zamora. But he is an option. If he is fit and playing well, Capello will consider him.

i have no idea where u have this idea of zamora being always injured........
i see no reason not to include him in englands plans up front as he did a lot more in his 1 game (albeit friendly) than darren bent has ever done...

BZ is needed as a back up striker in the England squad. Shrek is also injury prone these days.
