Great songwriter but terrible singer.
I used to think that
then I heard him play harmonica
Only joking Bob
Great songwriter but terrible singer.
Paul Weller is the one hero from my adolescence I would not like to meet.
Nihal on radio 5 did a long interview with him a few days ago that I'm promising myself I'll listen to. But I know what you mean.
Well he certainly hasn't got any better as a singer. Supreme songwriter though.
Well, he's 80 years old and a heavy smoker over many years, so he wouldn't. I saw him in Singapore when he was 69, and it was the worst gig I have ever seen. His voice had gone, and it was barely possible to tell what a few of the songs really were. Oh, well. It's always been like that with Dylan with some great gigs and some not. Still not sorry I went.
I don't like Bob Dylan.
Or David Bowie.
There - I said it......
I don't like Bob Dylan.
I dont like cricket
I love it
Regards

I saw him in the mid to late 80s in some massive venue in London. Quite possibly the worst concert I've ever been to. As you say it seems he is either brilliant or complete shite
I was definitely sorry that I went!!
I was him on consecutive nights at Hammersmith Apollo (?) in '89. First night was atrocious, incoherent rambling. Nearly didn't bother going the second night but a friend was keen to go. Second night, magnificent.
Plenty have said this over the years but there are very few artists who cover Dylan songs better than the original though
Can't take that list seriously if XTCs All Along The Watchtower isn't on there.

Sounds a bit like the late Mark E Smith, although in his latter years it was the brevity of his stay on stage that was the main issue (so I'm told - the one and only time I saw him was in 1981 and he was ever present back then). I prefer Smith as a singer. And a songwrite. But I would, wouldn't I?
