He's a great songwriter, and his voice is better than ever.

In terms of the number of albums he's released he must have one of the lowest ratio of duff records to great ones recorded. Legend is an overused word but certainly applies to Dylan imo.

One of the very few musicians who refuses to play a song the same way twice, everytime he plays he changes the song around. Pisses people off big time who go to hear a strict interpretation of the record.

How can you not "get" songs like this?

Oddball nowadays, but still writes the occasional decent tune. He seems to delve into the catalogues of other writers more, lately, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

On the radio he plays an eclectic mix, throwing in things you never thought you'd hear.

IF the beatnik crowd ever imagined how comprehensively he'd have 'sold out' with his writing "I love yoooooo, though you make me blooooo...." sort of garbage, they'd have hung drawn and quartered him at Newport. The material is nowhere near 'Bringing It All Back Home', 'Blonde on Blonde' or even 'Blood On The Tracks' (I say "even", because that really was a love-album departure from his acerbic poetic talent).

I kinda wish he would turn around and do a totally blues record, as a nod to where he came in. Some might like a Pete Seeger tribute, but blues suits him more.
'Time Out Of Mind' was brilliant, and contains probably the best love song ever by anyone; 'For You To Feel My Love'.

y/t "Thunder On The Mountain" y/t

'Modern Times' is a decent album, forget that it's a Dylan record - it's just an overall good album for anyone. It's one I like to play in the car more than at home.

I love him. He's enjoying an Indian Summer , albums wise. His output from the mid seventies to the mid nineties was crap though.

Just listened to Desire for the 100th time at least. One of the all-time great political songs - Hurricane - plus some other real goodies. And it's far from his best, although my personal favourite, if that makes sense. At his best, probably the best songwriter popular music has ever known, and a huge influence on contemporary music. Apart from that......

Liked him in the early days, before he broke his neck. Voice never seemed to have the same edge after that (and to be honest, the songs generally didn't either).

Saw him last week at the O2.
Good gig but the O2 was not a good choice of venue as it's a f***ing barn of a place especially if you don't have video screens. The new album is very good but the "Theme Time Radio Hours" are the absolute biz.

Never got him either, he seems to write overcomplicated confusing lyrics which have to have a tune built around to fit them. See Morrisey
