Bob Booker SHOULD have been given a chance

I think that is what he should do and leave the coaching to Ian Capman.

The only condition must be for him to stop looking at and bringing in so many Non League players, I know Revell and Elder were non league but why do we have to put up with the likes of Loft who it is most obvious will never be good enough for pro football.

Perhaps when our financial situation improves we will start looking at seasoned pros like MA brought in.

Do you know for a fact that Chappers is the superior coach? Actually, can you give us a run-down of their day-to-day duties as to who does what, while you're at it? It would be fascinating to find out the dynamics of their working relationship. Cheers, Brian.

:thud: One day the penny will drop...

appologies for not having your interlect, but i dont understand

why was wilkins given the job after a caretaker record that was virtually the same as bookers then?

if the argument is that booker didn't get the job because of his spell as caretaker manager, then why did wilkins get it as his wasn't exactly inspiring?
That is a valid point and I think the answer is that Wilkins was seen as 'the future' whereas good ol' Bob was just seen as a reliable #2. Certainly before Wilkins was promoted last summer Man U were sniffing around because of his success with the youth. I think that his perceived 'coaching value' outweighed his mediocre results.

Bloody hell. This is about as useful an argument as saying that Smith should have scored.

Bob Booker didn't last long. That's it. Nothing we can do about it now. The rest is wild speculation. Let's get behind Wendy, eh?

You're not comparing like with like.

The decision to give Wilkins the job was effectively made at the end of the previous season, not when McGhee was sacked.

Booker, on the other hand, was too close to the players in a different role to make an effective change into his new role.

actually, thinking about it, if that was the case and they KNEW he was going to get the job, what was the point in the caretaker spell - why not give him the job straight away?

I can speculate, but I wouldn't like to hold down as hard-and-fast gospel. Plus, the possible reasons I could come up with do contradict each other, so I would plump for...

... it was his first role in management and he was given a chance to - for want of a better term - see if he liked it.

Other than that, no idea.

MAYBE .....it's not always a one-way-street about what the club want, and perhaps there is some finding out. as to whether DW even wanted the job full-on.
Let's not forget that Booker did not WANT the job.

odd, mental. anything else you want to call me?

Yes, but not now.

All of your posts you reply to me are along the lines of 'bollocks', 'boring', 'you're full of shit' and now 'blah', without offering any intellectual counterpoint, especially when I addressing someone else directly. We can all say that, but it does represent a poverty of effort to offer nothing but this. In this instace, your reply was irrelevant and childish.

I've asked you about it several times, but you appear not to have the capacity within you to respond properly.

So, do you have anything more to say about what I said, other than 'blah'? Are you in a position to challenge my observations, or am I going to get another childish reply?

that is a bit rude, it is only his opinion that he is offering. Why are you being like that?

No, he was questioning the club's decision to retain Dean White without having apparent knowledge the day-to-day minutiae of the working practices and relationships of the management staff.

I was merely asking for his insights should this not be the case.
