Blunkett 'did speed nanny's visa'
Reports of Mr Blunkett's relationship first appeared in August
An official inquiry has found a "chain of events" linking David Blunkett to the speeding up of a visa application by his ex-lover Kimberly Quinn's nanny.
Former treasury adviser Sir Alan Budd said the application for leave to remain in the UK was processed in 52 days - 120 days faster than average.
In a separate report, Mr Blunkett was criticised by MPs for giving Mrs Quinn a rail pass meant for MPs' spouses.
Mr Blunkett quit as home secretary last week after being told Budd's findings.
Being honest, is it really that important. Everyone uses their contacts to get things done. I'm not a fan of this Labour government, but I don't find what Blunketts done morally wrong.
I understand that there needs to be a demarkation between public/private life, but to make a call/send a fax to get something like this sorted isn't corruption.
What I did object to was the accusations that civil servants had attended meetings with his mistress on non-governmental business. This, IMHO, was more of a resigning issue, than getting a favour done.
