Back at the weekend, went down to Horsted Keynes. I like steam railways and that, HOWEVER i am not a 'Anorak' :nono: Having been on the B/Rway. Plus a few others would have to say Britains finest, and the website not bad too !:bigwave:

I used to be taken on it pretty much every year as a kid when I'd come to stay with my Auntie down here, seem to remember it being fairly enjoyable.

Haven't been there in many, many years though, and I hope to avoid going near it ever again.

You start a thread about the relative merits of Britain's steam railways AND their websites, and then claim you're not an anorak.....??? How does that work, exactly?

A great day out, and hopefully one day it will stretch from Lewes to East Grinstead, with an off shoot to Ardingly.

Nothing wrong with those old preserved railway lines and it's a great chance for all those wannabe railwaymen in jobs they dont like to play trains. Long may they survive!

The railway at Swanage is also worth a visit, as is the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

The West Somerset Steam Railway ( Minehead to Bishops Lydeard ) runs through some beautiful countryside , and if you are ever in Aberystwyth take a trip on the Vale of Rheidol Railway which runs to Devil's Bridge - the views are absolutely stunning.

If thats the one that runs through Blue Anchor Bay and Watchet then it is a beautiful railway and well worth the visit.

I love the Bluebell Railway bar a slightly mischievous episode where someone there used my card details to try and buy something else

I went on a steam train in Norfolk once - that was nice, near Cromer

I'm a member of the bluebell's 9F club in my last year, which means i get to help out with cleaning the engines, chopping firewood etc, but have been unable to go for a few years due to exams & i deeply regret it as i love the place & love doing it. Hopefullly in spare time i may help as a cleaner up there when i can. Best in the world

Yup. For my 50th my mum bought me a day's engine driving tuition at the Kent and East Sussex! Going to do it next month hopefully.

Say hello to Kent Seagull when you're there. He's the manager.
