Fair comment our feathered friend, and if EB does fancy the move and holds out for it then Tony's bluster counts for very little... but let's hope not eh?

indeed. when burnely came in for lambert, the club said the interest wasn't welcome and we'd fight to keep him

however this counted for very little until the manager said he didn't want the move

interesting.

says he doesn't want to sell bennett, but not that he won't be sold

Still clutching at straws then LOL
Like you said before or another canary tweeted, Norwich have been linked with lots of young players.
Best you carry on searching then eh? Don't you think ?

He says we don't need or intend to sell any of our best players.
I think it's safe to assume he includes Bennett in that bracket. :)

Fantastic news, that puts my mind to rest for a bit now. Is it just me or does TB sound a lot like Gus Poyet in that interview, seems like they have the same views and mentality which is what a club going foward needs. (Ps, why can i not get any smilies??)

Errr unless there's a specific get out clause in his contract then we can keep him from playing for another club for 3.5 years thank you very much.

no all i'm saying is your chairman has come out with what he was expected to say. he's pretty much repeated what poyet said yesterday hasn't he in that you don't want to sell him.

and being linked with players and making an official approach are very different things

anyway, if we don't get him, that's fair enough

won't begrudge you keeping him

yeah i wish footy worked like that

however it's virtually impossible to keep a player or manager who doesn't want to be there

not that i am saying bennett comes into this category

Howe had a clause allowing him to talk to any club making an official approach. Nothing his chairman could do about it. That doesn't apply to Bennett so as a piece of vindictive scare mongering it was a pretty poor analogy.

Like it that Norwich have a forum called "The Pink 'Un". I can see why you are attracted to post on here. Is it travelling in hope, or expectation.........?

BTW if I was Bennett's agent I would be asking to talk about a loyalty bonus first thing Monday morning :)

It is what you'd expect him to say but it isn't the same as what Gus said as he said it's up to the Chairman! Anyway, get back to annoying Betfairian Chit Chatters you little tinker.

Bloom: We Don't Welcome Interest
Posted on: Sun 16 Jan 2011

By Paul Camillin

Tony Bloom has told Gus Poyet he does not have to sell any player, after the Albion boss last night revealed Norwich City have expressed an interest in winger Elliott Bennett.

Albion chairman Bloom confirmed that it is the only official enquiry so far this January and that the approach was not welcomed.

Bloom told seagulls.co.uk, "There has been interest from Norwich, but we do not want Elliott to go anywhere, and we have made that clear to them.

"Elliott is a key part of the squad, which is why we recently gave him a new three-and-a-half-year contract. He has been superb for the club since he came here, and we are not surprised he is attracting interest from a club in a higher division."

Bloom also says he would not be surprised if bids come in for other players - but warned clubs he has no plans to sell any of Albion's key men.

"We have to be pragmatic. If you are top of the table, then other clubs in higher divisions are going to be attracted to your players.

"That is part of football and is to be expected. But we don't welcome it, and do not intend to, nor need to, sell any of our best players.

"We are trying to build something big here at the club. Our aim this season is to win promotion to the Championship. We are currently in a great position to do that and we want to do everything we can to maintain that momentum.

"Our supporters know I am not a fan of doing business in the January window. Saying that, we are looking to strengthen our squad even more this month if we are able to recruit a player who brings different qualities to what we already have in the team."

If this was an episode of 'Fighting Talk' I'd be hitting the 'Hallelujah' button

just shows how the club has moved on under Bloom and Poyet

If hes really unhappy (which we know he isn't) then he probably would be allowed to leave now... As it stands he'll be told to wait until the end of the season if he wants more money.

Re-assuring words from Tony. :) A man of few public words, but gets right to the point when he does speak. He hasn't pumped tens of millions in to our club just so that he can sell our best players! The guy is on a mission and we are all invited. :amex:
