Football economy, especially in the big countries, needs to change. Wages need to go down and money earned by big teams must be distributed more evenly. Not sure how it is in the UK but in some countries governments need to support youth/grass root football more.

I’m baffled as to how anyone could think BHA is acting spinelessly in the current situation. WHU and other players offered to take a wage cut to ensure all employees of their club get their full wages. TB guaranteed this for BHA employees some time ago so there is no need for BHA players to follow suit.
In that article it also says that TB has indicated that he will be digging deep into his pocket over the coming months to keep things going. In effect he is shielding the players from needing to rush into a decision and allowing them time to think things through clearly before making any commitments.
It’s what we have come to expect from him but yet again demonstrates his gift for doing things the right way.

Didn’t TB decide to pay laid off staff 100% wages, very early doors in this crisis, simply because he’s a good person and employer?
Imho not to protect players at all. Besides, they have cast iron contracts, the players are sitting pretty.

FFP rules need to be suspended for now.
If a rich owner wants to pump money into his club to save jobs and save the taxpayer money, he should be allowed to with no penalty.

Yes City will take advantage, but if it means 10 clubs who might go to the wall survive, then it's worth it.

In terms of income, on the ongoing NSC football season thread, several vehement posters are adamant that Sky/BT have recently promised every cent of the 2019/20 broadcasting monies, regardless of whether the season is null and voided.
Sky have indicated there is a deal to be done, whereby the refund could be replaced by extra games next season or extra free time added to the next contract. don't think BT Sport have... yet.

Defending the players is all well and good, but a gesture from them, even if refused would be a positive.
The comment is aimed at the players, not TB or the club. Mr Bloom has said that the PFA 'need to step up', GM & LD are the PFA representatives at Brighton, they should be doing all they can to encourage their colleagues to come to an arrangement with the club on deferring wages as soon as possible. Players at other clubs have managed this.

I'm out of the country so don't keep up with all the UK media but is it only footballers being singled out? If that is the case it's not really fair is it. What about other wealthy sports stars, actors, musicians etc etc ......

Yes, the comment is pointedly about the players and sniping at them for not following the lead of others who have stated that their motivation is to protect wages of non-playing staff. But TB acted long before these other saintly players and less saintly clubs by committing to pay non-playing staff weeks ago.
So, whilst these others can be admired for taking action where their spineless clubs have not, it is silly to ask BHA players to do what TB has already done.
And, yes, TB is talking to the players but that is rather the point. He has given the reassurance that he will dig deep and is now working with them to find a solution that everyone is comfortable with. He is managing the situation and I for one would far rather trust him to figure out a solution being closed doors than butch about the players, especially when we know that they are already ‘doing stuff’ quietly in the background.
