Morning update ...

The supervisor failed to show up.

The level crossing is still closed to all traffic, despite the closure order saying that the road becomes available at 5.00am. The road surface across the tracks is still missing. The trenches on each side of the crossing are still there - so there is no pedestrian access, despite the promise that this wouldn't be affected. All Network Rail personnel have disappeared from the site.

I've spoken with ESCC Highways who had no idea that Network Rail weren't complying with the terms of the road closure order - they have promised to investigate.

Meanwhile, my journey to work will be six miles longer than normal.

Thanks for the offer to hike across with supplies, Oldman. Unfortunately, if you're coming from Seaford, you'll have to walk the extra six miles as well. The choc ices will have melted by the time you get here.
